"Clemson nearly lost at home to Boston College."

Well, that's hardly absurd when you consider that BC has Luc Bequette.

Thanks again Nick.

I think your metaphor of the pot is the best way to view this season. Everybody is going to have a rough patch at some point.

But I too am so glad Cal football is back and I can gripe about 10:30pm east coast kickoff times.

If I was making a line, I'd put us at 4.5 wins. I'm guessing we'll end up at 5-2, but with the upside of 6-1. I don't see us getting by Oregon. But LSU is 2-3, so who the heck knows. Barring another injury to Garbers or the entire line catches COVID, I think there's too much experience on this team to finish with less than 4 wins.

So while I do prescribe to Stanfurd slowly falling into demise, last year was 100% an anomaly due to injuries and the likes. They'll most likely bounce back, but they will also never be like Harbaugh and early Shaw levels of good at this point -- Shaw has shown us over the decade he's a Tim Cook not a Steve Jobs.

I can tell football season is starting because I'm starting to feel nervous again

Our advantage is a short season w the most experienced offense and solid QB where the other teams don’t get their legs under them because there’s no time to. We’re equally susceptible to injuries which is a series of coin tosses going one way or another.

For me, a 5-2 season is successful depending on who the 2 were. I’d rather lose to WSU than UW or UO. A wacky year indeed!

I'm hopeful for 5-2 and a bowl, or 6-1 if we are really lucky and avoid injuries on defense and execute at a very high level on offense. Also, Garbers has proven he is a winner - even more so than Jared Goff. If the gods and stars align to smile upon us, we could be 7-0. 😎😎😎😎
