It's nice to see the ball-hawking nature of the DBs is strong with Woodson. Also the fact that Latu might emerge earlier than expected is encouraging. Initially I thought that Latu would be a traditional redshirt, but now I can see him making moves in the 4 games he's allowed to play with the redshirt.
Cal can run a 14 personel with Tonges, Reinwald, Latu and Terry on the line for goal line situations.
There was defn some ferocity in the air but the cool thing was after the play is blown dead they help each other up and a little helmet tap each. They respect the aggression within the play.
Charlie Ragle's post-practice interview a few days ago was actually one of the most in-depth interviews I've seen from a Cal coach (i.e., very little coach-speak): https://youtu.be/XSpRavEQ6eQ
Punter is locked up, kicking game is lean-incumbent but open, and they're moving the hold back to 8 yards. Ragle talks candidly about the problems last year and his analytical rationale for making changes. All in all a very refreshing watch.
Love to hear Drayden say that Coach Watson is a technique freak. GA brought in some diamonds, and Watson will make sure that they get polished. If the DL makes the jump that they're supposed to, it would create conditions for Takers 2.0
I don't mind the INTs Garbers is making, training camp is when you try to check your limits and with a DB corps that Cal has its iron sharpens iron situations. I still need to breakdown from the Spring Game the long PA TD to Nikko cause if I am right and if Musgrave is paying attention to his NFL peers that's the money play for Cal in 2021.
It's Musgrave's offense and he's using TE's to create more looks than a D can prepare for. Think about it, a TE can be the additional blocker for the run game or can be a receiver for the pass game. Now bring in two TE's. What does the D do? Do they bring up a big slow LB to cover the TE for run plays? If so the QB checks down to a pass play and burns the LB. Does the defense bring up a big Strong Safety to cover the TE on a potential pass play. If so the QB audibles to a run play. If we have our TE game together, it's gonna be hella fun to watch.
Terry brings the type of high ceiling that’s rare for Cal skill position players in the post-Tedford era. Anything to get him on the field more is a good thing.

Woodson has “serious breakout candidate” written all over him.
How can anyone resist putting high expectations on a DB with such a name!
The tip drill pick by Woodson I mentioned above.

👀 Tattersall and Coleman got into it at the end of the play

"Musgrave saying they would use TEs as fullbacks in the offense as well"
I see Musgrave uses my 360 video game strategy in real life
Fun to hear that Slater Zellers worked with Nick Sundberg this summer. We'll have great snaps to our kicker - the question is, is he gonna make it?

Good question. It looks like there are a couple of new kickers on the roster.
None worthy of scholarships though

Drayden says that Garbers is "slinging the ball everywhere" now. Music to Cal fans' ears.

Piotr I’m gonna need that spring game link
SHHHHHHHH were trying to kep it a secret from Pat Fitzgerald
Nevada coaches reading this - I was at practice. Cal is implementing a new "negative yard offense" based on running backwards.
Yup that quote caught my eye as well. This is good news and hopefully it will be consistent throughout camp.
Is Wilcox just trying to recreate Oregon with a strong defense and a lot of throws to tight ends?
If he can get the Phil Knight Death Star money, I'm all in.

Dykes converted our stud TEs into WRs and RBs.
Wisconsin*
A bit like Furd perhaps with jump balls to tall receivers who push off.
Where is the practice schedule posted for those of us who may want to play hookie?

Great to see a tall and rangy tight end to supplement what Tonges and the other guys can do.
CAL's version of Gronk.
Yo soy fiesta!
