The last 4 games last year, the offensive line, especially inside found a sweet spot. The new position groupings seemed to work and JKS numbers reflected the improvement. Wins over SMU and Louisville were results plus JKS had 0 interceptions and great PFF numbers. My hope is this years tackles will make the improvement to forge a solid unit finally. Having 4 players back with starting experience and 5 portal guys hopefully starts us building depth. I have hope!

Agreed. It will probably be a few years before we have recruited and developed a quality OL, and the meantime it's just "try to make it work" and scheme around it with the talent at skill positions.
My unsubstantiated belief is that quality O-Linemen already were good or showed the potential in high school, so they already are at power conf schools.. so you're not going to find them in the portal "moving up" from mid majors, and they tend to stay put unlike other positions that tend to shop for the highest bidder.

Last year's oline was in trouble from the jump - evidenced by ALL the RBs leaving for the portal after spring practice. Let's hope the 3 core from 2025 have made a big jump in 2026 and the new additions can run AND pass block. The team has added some great position players, so we need the OL to step up. Middle of the FBS for the run game would be huge! Go Bears!
You are so right! The season pretty much hinges on the OL stepping up and giving JKS enough time to find one of his much improved WR targets or blowing holes in the opposing DL so the much improved RB corps can spring for good yardage. Fire up the incense and run up the prayer flags, we’re going to need all the help we can get!

I believe the OL is better, and I want them to be GREAT, but with the talent at our skilled positions, even if they are OK, we could be GOOD. ROLL ON!
