I hope that this is a sign, along with the new chancellor, that there will be some heavy thought put into restoring traditions and game day experiences.
For one, I would hope the CalBand is allowed to play frequently again. Lately, the soundscape at games has been dominated during breaks by piped in music, etc. Band needs to be more aggressive, play whenever possible, esp. now that the opposing team will be in their vicinity.
Something else I wonder: With the move to the ACC, will the victory cannon move back into the stadium? That's where it was - on the east side south of the team area - from 1964-1970 before the-then Pacific-8 Conference banned cannons in member stadia in 1971 (following an injury accident involving the Stanford cannon in 1970). It was moved up to Tightwad Hill in 1973 and has been there ever since.

This could be a good move because A) Closer to the opposing team means that Cal students can really shout and hopefully disrupt play calls and B) More shade on the west side of the stadium. I remember a few times in the student section when the sun was just BRUTAL! Now that I am an Old Blue, I need the shade more than ever.
Finally! Oh my golly, Finally! I've been waiting and hoping for this my entire Cal life. Since my first games back in 1987 I've thought of how stupid it is that we make our team sit on the hot sunny side and let the opponent sit in the shade. I'm absolutely thrilled for this change. Move the team into the shade, let the students heckle the opponents. It's perfect. I love it. Hooray!
That's right. The entrance to the field for the visitors goes into the West sideline. Visitors will probably have to enter the field first as a consequence.
Pelting with rhetoric, I hope you mean. Do unto others … Still applies, right? Sportsmanship? Human kindness?? Avoiding assault charges (verified by the “older” students mentioned herewith)?

Amen! Can’t stand our awesome band being sidelined.
This! I hope someone can relay this to the powers that be.

Holy shit, I've been calling for this for years!! No more sun in the players and coach's faces.

Time to increase the season over/under by 0.5 games
LOL. Look out ACC.
Wow! I just NEVER know what’s gonna be the next WFC Headline! I NEVER would have predicted this, but I love it!!!!!!
Wow. Don’t disagree with this change, but this season is going to be weird.
Great move.
Makes sense!

I am wondering how the visiting team will get in and out of the locker room since the entrance will now be on the Cal sideline?
Visitors can walk around to the south tunnel and enter from there

Welp, back in my day, the students would be pelting the visitors. Just sayin.'
Yep. Oranges, water balloons…
Figuratively, you mean, of course.
Uhhh, it was 1965-69. Launched with surgical tubing quickly moved several rows up or Down.
As a CAL guy from the late 50's and early 60's, I remember all that.
Same '72-80
I think I remember an assignment having to determine launch angle, etc.
Holy grail was one in a white furd tuba/Sousaphone.
I saw that happen on a Furd Sousaphone, not sure if it was white. Water balloons were more humane, but could not get the distance.

Oh, yes.
Honestly, I did not participate, Of'cer.
Students these days will probably want to tone some of that stern rhetoric. 😇😉
Yeah, watch for those “older looking” students sitting next to U….they may be undercover security…..
As a former longtime resident of Section I and fairly new arrival to Section H, I approve of this change. 😁
As the late Rík Ocasek once said, “Shake it up!”
Smart move - take any advantage you can! :-)
