Cal Football Defensive Back Jaylen Martin enters transfer portal

writeforcalifornia.com

Cal Redshirt Sophomore Jaylen Martin has entered transfer portal. The former 3-Star DB, who was a last minute flip to Cal from Colorado after Mike Macintyre’s firing, leaves after playing sparingly during his 3 years in Berkeley. The 6-2 corner didn’t break into the rotation this season with the emergence of Lu-Magia Hearns, Collin Gamble and Isaiah Young.

Makes sense, Hearns, Gamble, and Young will make for a killer CB lineup over the next few years (it'd also be a solid law firm)

With all due respect, this is the kind of situation you want to see in the transfer portal. A young man who who didn't get much playing time who thinks he can better himself with another team and another system. The opposite to that is a guy like Mettaur, a second team all conference player who left for a program that will get way more wins and tons more media exposure for his likely move to the NFL. I mean, he didn't go to Oklahoma for the better scholastics.
