Cal Football Fall Camp 2024: Practice Notebook #4 (8/4/24)

With under a month until opening kickoff against UC Davis, there are still many questions about the 2024 California Golden Bears. A lot of speed, versatility, and athleticism has been added to this roster but they are far from a finished product. Competition is heating up, emotion is boiling over, and reminders were given that focus needs to be the name of the game going forward.
Play of the Day: Tobias Merriweather goes back to back practices with 70+ yard TD’s. This time it was another go route, going over the top in the first play of the 7 on 7 session.
Offense:
Chandler Rogers versatility was on display Sunday, making several plays scrambling and throwing on the run. Over the course of the day, the 11 on 11 session allowed Rogers to showcase his decision making skills, not putting the ball in harms way.
As mentioned in previous iterations of the notebook, the speed on display from this team is apparent. Tobias Merriweather and Kyion Grayes have gears that haven’t been present in the receiver room in the while. Other receivers such as Jonathan Brady and Mikey Matthews have also injected life into this room, leaving the ceiling higher than in years past.
