Cal football fans shatter their $1 million fundraising goal, close in on $2 million
The California Golden Bears community is stepping up once again to support their program in their greatest time of need.
One of Ron Rivera’s first acts as Cal general manager was to quell a donor revolt by leading a donation drive to raise a million dollars for the football team to support their ongoing transfer portal efforts. Cal fans and donors quickly shattered that goal last week, raising half a million and getting a matching half a million.
He isn’t stopping at the initial goal. A new pledge drive kicked off right after the first million was raised to get the Bears to two million, with Rivera being the one to lead the call to action.
Cal Family,
You continue to amaze me, and the Cal Football program. We are incredibly proud to share that our efforts toward the Fight For California Football Challenge have shattered the UC Berkeley crowdfunding record!
Your generosity has been nothing short of inspiring. In fact, it’s been so inspiring that two additional anonymous donors have each pledged $250,000, unlocking an additional $500,000 matching gift!
To everyone who has already played a part in this historic milestone, thank you. We wouldn’t be here without your support.
For those still considering a gift, now is the moment to make an impact. Together, we can propel Cal Football toward an ACC Championship and a College Football Playoff berth.
Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to Fight For California!

The Bears should hit that goal shortly. Click here to donate.
Thanks to these efforts, Cal was able to close in on some major recruiting targets in the transfer portal, and now should have at least a solid defensive unit patrolling ACC fields this fall. These donations should also help solely bolster the football team from an operational and strategic perspective.
These efforts from Cal fans everywhere came at a crucial time for the program, with a host of players going in and out after spring camp. The Bears are going to be a very different unit come next season, and every donation helps.
Thanks to all of you who contributed so generously to the campaign. An amazing outpouring of support, particularly coming on the heels of a tough couple of weeks for Cal football and MBB. Would have preferred to get this launched before the portal opened but that’s above my pay grade. Regardless, thank you all again for conclusively demonstrating that Cal is a sleeping giant and showing what we can accomplish with the right leadership.
Proof that the most controversial and ghost like element, Hopium, was discovered and still exists at CAL.
