Cal schedules home-and-home with San Jose State for 2028 & 2031, Wagner in 2026

The California Golden Bears have filled up their schedule for the rest of the decade.

The California Golden Bears have now likely filled up most of their out-of-conference non-FCS foes through the end of decade. Cal and San Jose State will be playing each other for the first time in decades in a battle of I-880. The first matchup is scheduled for September 9, 2028 in Berkeley, with a return date of September 13, 2031 in San Jose. It' will be Cal’s first matchup with the Spartans since 1996.

Cal will also host FCS opponent Wagner in 2026. The Bears will be heavily favored in this matchup, as Wagner has won nine games in the past five seasons. But the game is needed as a reprieve, with UCLA, BYU and UNLV already logged that year on the out-of-conference docket.
