That’s what home and home means. Home for Cal and then Home for SJSU. It is an accurate depiction of the situation if you’re into the whole accuracy thing.
It would be more accurate to say home and away since the Bears are home for the first game and away for the second. If that were reversed it would be more accurate to say away and home. By saying home and home you have no idea which game is in Berkeley and which is in San Jose. Also what if both games are at home? What the hell do you call it then?
its like the other weird paradigm where all recruiting services say a player is the "X ranked player in the state overall, and Y ranked at his position [nationally]" where X sounds better than Y, which is nonsensical because they don't clarify the [nationally] part of the latter, and its kind of apples and oranges.
You have to look at the term from the perspective of the outside observer. "Home and away" would be from the perspective of one of the participating teams only.
I don't understand. I realize the spot had to be filled for 2026 but, There must be a better/other opponent that has an opening to play Cal. This isn't basketball where you can play a so called lesser opponent to fill a schedule or date. This game will not bolster or help any possible rankings that Cal may achieve in 2026.
Okay here's my non smart ass answer. They're the Seahawks and call Staten Island home. They went 4-8 last season but that included losses to such powerhouses as Lehigh, Robert Morris, Columbia and Long Island University. I think we can beat 'em. https://wagnerathletics.com/sports/football
Pleased this matchup has been resuscitated. We had some good games in the 80s-90s. Nice to have another local opponent.
Wagner? I suppose they needed to find a new avenue now that they're no longer front-and-center in the war in Ukraine.
Headline says home and home but the second game a is in San Jose so it's actually a home and away series, if you're into the whole accuracy thing.

Regardless, "home and home" is the accepted term in college football. Hell, it's even defined in Merriam Webster: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/home-and-home

“Often the less there is to justify a traditional custom, the harder it is to get rid of.” -- Mark Twain.
It's these pedantic arguments that make Cal fans the best in all of college football.

Going to SJSU is pretty lame.
We should play ucla every year. Hopefully it gets scheduled for 2030 on.
I feel that way too…
What a terribly boring OCC schedule for the next 7 years.
I really hope they don't cancel Wisconsin games.
I agree…
What is a Wagner?
Glad to see FUCLA for a few years.
And NO U$C! I never want to have to hear that shi!@y band again!
It is a seahawk from Staten Island! Beautiful field with about 2K seats. Wish it was a home and home.
Why are there 4 NC games in 2026?
There's 4 nonconference games every year.
It's just that the opponents are not finalized yet after 2026.
Last year we played UC Davis, Auburn, Oregon State and SDSU.
Who is Wagner?
Richard Wagner was a German composer and conductor who was much admired by Hitler. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Wagner

🤣 love your non-smart ass answer with ‘…losses to such powerhouses as…’! Thanks for the multiple laughs! And for confirming my legit question!
