A bargain. The Rivera family has also been contributing money to the program. We'll see if an extension is in the works after the season, though I suspect this relatively short-term contract represents Ron's desire.

Chancellor Lyons hiring Ron and then putting Ron's contract together tells us that we finally have a University leader who finally understands the value of what a successful football program can bring to Cal overall. Go Bears! The Number One Public University in the World!

Given the way D1 college football has gone, it’s all about the money now with football coaches and GM’s getting paid huge salaries to deliver huge results. Ron and Tosh are worth every dollar they are paid, as long as they deliver outstanding performance on the football field. I’m betting that the team UCLA will face on September 5 is like nothing we’ve seen in Memorial Stadium for a very long time.

Since Coach Ron Rivera has arrived, he has done good things for Cal and Cal football. He is doing what needed to be done. Thank you! Classic school stuff, taking more than a year to finalize the agreement. Geez. But, it's done now so Go Bears, beat UCLA! In fact, beat em all! Get that ten game bonus.

Barring something massively unexpected I don’t see us parting ways with him until he decides he is ready for his next adventure.
