Cal lands its second commitment from 2024 offensive lineman Tyler Knape
The California Golden Bears have landed both an offensive lineman and a tight end with their first two commitments for next year's class.
Cal has landed their next commitment from the 2024 cycle, and at a critical position of need. Offensive lineman Tyler Knape made the call earlier today to join the Golden Bears, and is the first big win of the cycle for new offensive line coach Mike Bloesch.
Knape hails from Austin, Texas at Westlake School. Knape joins tight end Camden Jones as the two early commits of the 2024 class. Knape’s junior tape is available via Hudl.
Knape held a major Pac-12 offer from Arizona State and another offer from Air Force as well as some offers from schools with bona fides like Columbia, Fordham, Old Dominion, Penn and Princeton. Cal was one of the earliest to offer Knape—he made a few visits to Berkeley, and it was enough to put the Bears over the top.
It’s early in 2024 recruiting evaluations so there are no official rankings yet, but given the status of his program in Texas and the cadre of offers handed out, Knape might be an early gem the Bears have identified early as the best possible fit for the new look Cal offense and the University of California in general.
Welcome to Cal Tyler!
Texas connection with Bloesch paying off right there. He doesn't necessarily need to be 350 lbs if he's got agility. Lots of pulling, line movement with this offense. His high school won the state championship in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Rockin' hairstyle is a bonus!
