Cal football recruiting: EJ Caminong, David Washington, Rahshawn Clark weekend visitors
It's a huge recruiting weekend for the California Golden Bears. Is good news on the horizon regarding commitments?
Cal football has had a bunch of recruits in Berkeley this month. This weekend is a big one, with the Bears hoping to nail down positions of need for 2024.
All signs are that good news is coming.
Cal director of player personnel Marshall Cherrington tweeted the following.
Then Cherrington tweeted this!
Cal director of recruiting Benji Palu chimed in.
Seems like the good news is rolling in soon! Stay tuned.
Visitors
Seattle (Wa.) Garfield quarterback EJ Caminong (former Washington commit) is on campus, and is likely Cal’s top 2024 quarterback target on the board. Caminong has visited Oregon State and Texas A&M, but Cal is the final visit so hopefully the Bears can make the best final impression.
Las Vegas (Nv.) Delta Academy wide receiver David Washington is one of the best prospects on the West Coast, and is making a trip up to Berkeley after visits to UCLA, Utah and Oregon State. Cal is in Washington’s top 11 along with the three schools above, Texas A&M, Michigan State, UNLV, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss and Oregon.
Athlete Rahshawn Clark from Federal Way (Wa.) is on campus as well. Clark has visited Oregon, Oregon State, and Louisville earlier this summer, and has a final six that includes Cal, Washington and Michigan State as well.
Honolulu (Hi.) Punahou defensive end Kekai Burnett is also on campus. Burnett also has visited Hawaii, Oregon State and Washington State earlier this month, but Cal is the last visit.
247Sports has two additional visitors: Oxnard (Ca.) athlete Dayton Aupiu is here, and has also taken trips to Arizona and Utah. Penn State and San Diego State are also in Aupiu’s top 5.
Arlington (Tx.) Mansfield Summit defensive lineman Legend Journey also took the trip out.
Finally, Rivals reports running back Jamaal Wiley from Stafford (Tx.) will be making a trip as well up to Berkeley. Can Cal find their first ball-carrier of this class?
Commits
Two of the Cal commits are also taking trips to Strawberry Canyon.
Cal tight end commit Camden Jones has made his trip to Berkeley.
Cal linebacking commit Eze Osondu, who made the call earlier this month, is also up in the Bay.
Who’s coming to Berkeley? We will find out soon enough.
Hopefully we'll land a couple of these guys. It will be interesting to see which of these players will stick around if they end up being contributors as freshmen or sophomores or will leave for NIL greener pastures like JMike.
Jamaal Wiley committed!
