Honestly, if Spav is coming then we won't need 5 running backs. We'll be throwing a lot, and the carries we have will probably go to Ott. I think they're seeing that they won't beat him on the depth chart and bouncing.
The only difference is he has the cache to say that based on what he has done thus far as a coach. Wilcox on the other hand is a below average coach who has not accomplished much outside of going 3-3 in the "Big Game".
I'm sure there's enough to go around. Stredick had 3150 yards his senior year in HS, including one game where he had over 500 yards! A single game! I've watched him over a number of games in spring practice and he always pops when I'm there. He deserves some carries.
I was statistician for FB my sr year at LB Poly HS in the 1970's. We had a RB who went for over 700 in one game against admittedly terrible competition where he should have been sat mostly...all he wanted to do was play football. Got an offer from UCLA conditional on being admittable. His HS Biology teacher said all he had to do was come to class and would pass which would not hurt anyone and would get him his necessary science class. He didn't bother going. Didn't get admitted. Shortly into the summer he hung himself. True story though I don't remember his exact stats.
Might as well start calling it "Minor League Football".... 'College' no longer applies, whatsoever.
It's always been Minor League Football. The players just have more options now.
Trey Paster is also in the portal. It would be nice to start seeing transfers coming to Cal!
Troy Taylor a finalist at Stanford, too.
I guess Brooks has landed at ASU

Now...we just need to make sure Ott is committed.
LOKS LIKE THE CAL FOOTBALL TEAM HAS AS HIGH A RATE OF TURNOVER AS THE LOCAL MORTUARY GERBEAR
Still not as many as Furd, and other schools have even more. Would like to see some coming TO Cal but not time to panic yet.
So many RBs hitting the road. Hope to hear confirmation that Ott is staying.
I’m thinking all the RB transfers IS confirmation that Ott is staying
That's been my hope. Still nervous, though, since there's compelling optimistic and pessimistic interpretations.
I like Deion Sanders’s approach to this: Go ahead and go, if you’re going. We’ll make more.

I see your point.
Against dogschitt Stanford teams.
My heart skipped a beat at "Cal Running back..."
This is what happens when you play only one guy at that position for most of the year and he's a freshmen.
Brooks got plenty of snaps and hit the road to ASU.
Ott probably should have gotten even more touches…idiot Musgrave should have given him the ball 25 times v Colorado.
I don't think anyone was calling for less carries by Ott this year...
Stredick time!

Yikes. Stredick was all set to go to Princeton before choosing to come to Cal as a walk-on, so classes will never be a problem anyways.
Uh, That’s a really sad and oddly nonsequitur anecdote…um, thanks?
I know I shouldn't be chuckling at this thread, but sums up Cal football - depressing yet comical all at once
Everybody dies. Go Bears!
The Hudl video from a few years ago is amazing.

Well, that's a bummer. Best of luck, Street.
21 run attempts in 3 years. I think we'll be okay.
we have Ott. It’s not them or AT it’s OTT. He is on another level.
Ok but, you can't have Ott running every play... Injuries happen. We need depth too.
