Ryan McCulloch and Isaiah Crosby Out for Season: Cal Coach Wilcox
Some very tough injury news
Late this afternoon, Cal Head Coach Justin Wilcox stated that premier pass rusher Ryan McCulloch and emerging defensive back Isaiah Crosby would be missing the rest of the season due to injuries.
It was announced that both players suffered their respective injuries in Cal’s loss at San Diego State. McCulloch ends his season still leading the Bears in QB hits with four and the second most sacks with 1.5 on the young season.
On the other side, Crosby was the third leading tackler for the Cal defense and was also second in pass breakup along that side of the football. The two defenders combined for 35.0 tackles, 4.0 pass breakups, 4.0 quarterback hurries, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to this point in the year.
“Isaiah and Ryan will be hard to replace,” said Justin Wilcox. “We have a lot of talented guys behind them, and they all have an opportunity to step up.”
Jayden Wayne and Dru Polidore Jr will be expected to step in each of their absences, with Polidore Jr earning more reps over the past few weeks coming off injury. Wayne and Chris Victor will lead the charge in a defensive front that also lost Sergine Tounkara for an unknown amount of time after he went down against Boston College.
This marks three total season ending injuries for the Cal defense, as Nate Burrell was announced as out for the season during fall camp.

They both went down in the game where the team lost focus. Not being dialed in, can lead to injuries and game loss.
Ouch! McCulloch will really hurt with his defending the rt side of the D with his great play at OLB. Crosby was really good at run support from the secondary which was essential in run defense
