Yup, this one hurts the most. He's a good blocker and his height as a receiver created great mis-matches with opponents. I'm sorry to see him go. He's a good kid and I wish him the best of luck wherever he lands.
That said, this one hurts…he was not a grad transfer, and made a move based on football. Not a great look for Wilcox, tho such is life in the transfer portal era…
It will be interesting to see if a new OC will find a way to break Terry out of a freshman slump where he only had 7 catches for 41 yards and was not touted for his blocking acumen. I seem to recall two holding penalties back to back on him in one game.
Terry seemed pretty quick and fluid in a very limited sample size of a couple of TE screens but as was wont to happen during the season it was blown up by the opponent's secondary. Hard to say much beyond that. And the blocking by everyone was pretty much crap until the last two games sans Musgrave.

Cal has unique academic requirements for accepting high school kids.
Does anyone know how restrictive we are for undergrad transfers?
WHY NOT JUST SAY "QUIT!"
He was a much better blocker than Terry.
True, but he did catch the game winner against AZ on that great little RPO.
TE leaving when a spread focused OC takes the reigns isn't all that surprising, however he will be missed
New TE coach
Okay, that one hurts.

Except he can't catch
Or block…
I watched all our game film this year. He made some key catches and he was our best blocking TE.
He didn't catch that game winning TD in the overtime vs Colorado. It was thrown right in the chest.
He also had a crucial 2H fumble in Boulder.

This was the one I was expecting all season for some reason. I could feel it, down in my plums.
as long as Terry stays....

And whenever they passed to Terry it was out wide or in the flats for no more than 3 yards.

Dang going to miss the big man....
Sorry he is leaving but we are not shorthanded at the position.
Yet…..
