Incoming freshman QB, Nainoa Lopes, has been getting rave reviews about his readiness to play college ball. So, perhaps EJ saw the writing on the wall, so to speak. Wish him well. Go Bears!!
Ingrassia I hope gets an opportunity too, if not with the Bears, then somewhere else, ‘cuz he throws one of the most catchable balls I’ve seen in a while; smooth delivery, like butta.
Like to see guys getting their Cal degrees before moving on to what they hope is a better football situation. Worked out pretty well for Mendoza, for example. Although technically he finished his degree after moving on football-wise.
Fact is Cal needs a rather sizable talent upgrade at almost every position, so imagine you will see a fair amount of portal entrants out of Berkeley come January 2.
I'd imagine half the team would be in the portal right now if we made an uninspiring coaching hire, or made no change.
Not to mention, and this could be my ignorance.. Other than JKS (already committed), I don't think I can even name another player specifically that would hurt to lose at this point. I do like the frosh LB Hampton though, so would be bummed if he bolted.

Oh yeah looks like he's a senior. With so many turnovers each year, I can't tell who's who. This was the first year I really didn't know the background of many players on the field. Until last year, I was able to keep up with most.
I hope Tosh can upgrade our roster instantly with the portal this year, but also hope that HS recruiting will stabilize the roster a bit more in the future. But whatever the roster composition, half the players will not see much action and will end up transferring, so as long as we can keep our core players, I will be satisfied.
Oh yes, forgot about Manutai.. And Ferrelli is younger than I realized.
With Cade, going into this season I assumed he would be in the 2026 draft so I didnt count him. Unfortunately that he had some not so great games this year, but rooting for him to make it at the next level.

Uluave, Ferrelli, McCulloch, Manutai, Polidore.
That's about it. And it's not the end of the world even if they transfer.
An uptick in HS recruiting is really needed for stability of the team.
i tot Polidore was done with eligibility, it would be a bonus to have him back.

c'mon man, Ferrelli is the real deal. (plus me guess is we get some gud transfers into the LB room.)
Yeah I assumed Ferrelli was older and a late bloomer on the roster, didn't realize how much more eligibility he had
I don't want to say this openly but we need a huge upgrade, so half the team can enter the portal.
We basically need to replace our entire WR and RB rooms.
We need a sizable talent upgrade at every position, save for QB (hopefully).
...and most of the OL/DL. major reconstruction effort once the portal opens. thankfully the $1 million fundraiser reached its target today.
