Cal Football Welcomes Transfer Portal Visitors in Berkeley this Weekend with Tosh Lupoi
A bevy of talented offensive portal targets for the California Golden Bears are in the Bay Area this weekend.
The work never stops. After issuing a shutout of Texas Tech to send Oregon into the College Football Playoff semifinals, Tosh Lupoi has reportedly returned to Berkeley for a brief period to try and close on some important portal prospects for the California Golden Bears.
Let’s take a look at some of the names that we know that were in Berkeley this weekend.
Running back Adam Mohammed, via Washington
Mohammed rushed for 523 yards and 4.9 yards per carry, scoring five touchdowns; he also caught 17 passes for 138 yards. Mohammed rushed for 105 yards on 14 carries against Oregon’s defense (2 catches for 18 yards), which almost certainly caught the eye of Lupoi.
Mohammed is also expected to visit Texas A&M and Virginia. He’d be an immediate contender to be the starting running back. He’s ranked as the 67th best prospect by On3 and the 6th best running back.
Offensive lineman Tana Alo-Tupuola, via Georgia Tech
Tana Alo-Tupuola has played in 23 games and started four games at center this season. At 6-2, 325 pounds, he could be an immediate contender to start on the interior.
He will also visit Arizona State and Wisconsin this week. It’ll be a very spirited competition to win his commitment.
Offensive lineman Jacob Arop via South Dakota
The FCS offensive tackle played in 11 games with 502 snaps, and has three years of eligibility left. He was the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week in South Dakota’s win over South Dakota State. With two Cal offensive tackles in the portal, this would be a major commitment pickup.
Wide receiver Chase Hendricks via Ohio
Hendricks has 123 catches for 1616 yards and eight touchdowns in three years and has proven to be a top outside wide receiver prospect. Hendricks is rated the 34th best prospect in the portal by On3, and the 7th best wide receiver.
Tight end Dorian Thomas via New Mexico
Thomas hauled in 56 catches for 560 yards and 4 touchdowns this season and could potentially be a starting tight end at a Power 4 conference. Thomas will also visit UCLA and Florida. Thomas is ranked as the 63rd best prospect and the 4th best tight end by On3.

Is this list a bit lackluster? I know it's early but I hope we see higher caliber visitors/transfers under Tosh
Good to see we're already active even though we're still assembling our staff. Also nice to see Tosh physically in town given that he is still quite busy with Oregon.
