I am following the one Nick mentioned in his article the other day that looks at gains vs losses in the portal. Probably the best way to look at it. Several ACC schools rank ahead of us. We have slipped a bit but still stand 30th in the country....https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/team-rankings/football/2026/

They both measure different things. 247 would be more comparable to the On3 P score for transfers in. The algorithm is proprietary so I'm not entirely sure how it weights transfers in and out, but I think us having more outs than ins is hurting us. But Oregon's lopsided and has a high score so maybe they're getting points for shedding their lower ranked players? I dunno.

It is hard to know the details, but I think they take the combined ratings of all the players a team gains through the portal and subtract the points (or NIL value) of all the players a team has lost in the portal. The net number is an estimate of the talent gain or loss for any team. We def got a few very good players in the portal, but we also also lost some good ones. Based on the ON3 ratings, Cal is just about even now. If we can continue to add 4 and 3 star players, we will see a bigger plus number and our ratings should improve.

Are they even trying to be a P4 program?
