Someday, we will tell ourselves the full story of what happened this week. But here’s one small part of the formula that led College Gameday to Berkeley.
Since the start of the 2024 season, an idea had been formulating after one intrepid Cal Twitterer noticed something very interesting about their UC Davis performance.
And then Cal Twitter and Mic Man veteran Matt Ha chimed in.
Little did we know, this little play on words would start trickling into the public consciousness, and by the time the Calgorithm reached critical mass, our intrepid Cal Twitter folks made this their rallying cry for our College Gameday campaign.
Here we are, a month later, with a Cal Twitter produced music video from commissioned artist Micky Hage (give her a follow on Instagram) the Saturday of the College Gameday announcement to Berkeley. Coincidence?
Maybe, but let’s make it canon anyway.
Here is the initial Soundcloud:
Thanks to the following Cal Twitter burners for making this video come to life (please give them a follow)
wokemobfootball for producing and creating this music video. She deserves all your flowers and more, as she has been creating incredible memes for weeks.
This whole effort was a culmination of what a small group of dedicated, creative sickos can achieve. When Cal Twitter puts their minds to providing the California Golden Bears and college football community tremendous culture, we can fill our emotional wells with abundance.
I will confess that I had never heard of Chappell Roan or Hot to Go, but when I asked my wife and kids, they all had a good laugh, so apparently I was the only one. Well played, Calgorhythm.
That was so good that I want to punch Twist! Seriously, way better than it had any business being.
Fantastic! Go Ursustwitter!
Which AI app/site did you use to create this awesome new version of a song? :D
All organic meme here!
Those lyrics are pure amazing. Love it!

"Someday, we will tell ourselves the full story of what happened this week."
Indeed. It's crazy to contemplate the mythology of the past year, these past weeks, all leading up to the current moment. I can't recall experiencing a better bye week coming off of a loss. 3-1 with Game Day incoming makes it a lot more fun!
G-OTT to get this on the video boards at the game! Would be a way better way to spend a TV timeout than cheering on fake BART trains. And I love BART trains.
This was BRILLIANT! You all have a future in song writing and production! And I think Ott is gonna have a breakout monster performance this weekend. Go Bears!!
I'm going to drop a note in the suggestion box that this whole story is worthy of some coverage by the venerable California Magazine, particularly if we can get some leads on how ESPN viewed it, it's impact etc. Supremely well done all!
