Cal Football welcomes seven official visitors this weekend
Four commits from the first two weekends - how many for the third?
Seven players from the Class of 2022 are taking official visits to Berkeley this weekend, continuing the official visit period that began this month.
I believe that one of the best ways the Bears improve their chances is deepening the relationship between player and coach, so I’ve included the month of offer for each school involved (though some schools *cough* Arizona State/Colorado/Michigan *cough* like to throw out offers to any warm body). Most of Cal’s top targets are offered around two years before their graduation.
Justyn Martin - QB, Inglewood (Inglewood, CA) 90 247Sports
Martin was offered by the Bears in December and committed in January. Although the 4* keystone of the class flirted with other programs over the last month, the signalcaller appears locked into the Bears. Upon arriving on campus this weekend, the 6’4, 210 lb star felt like saying one thing - “Home.”
Damonic Williams - DL, Bishop Alemany (Mission Hills, CA) 89 247Sports
The 6’2, 325 lb disrupter tore it up across the South’s camp circuit over the past few weeks, but the committed Bear returns to Berkeley for the weekend for his first official visit. Williams was offered by the Bears in June 2020 and committed in January as the Bears’ first commit of the class.
Kaleb Johnson - RB, Hamilton (Hamilton, OH) 86 247Sports
Johnson was offered by running backs coach Aristotle Thompson in March. The 6’1, 215 lb back displays a ton of pass-catching ability in the backfield, making him one of the Bears’ top targets at the position. He took an official visit to Iowa State (offered March 2020) on June 4th and will take one to Iowa (March 2021 offer) on June 25th.
In some speculation, some Cal assistants have tweeted that a player from Ohio has committed today - Johnson would certainly fit the bill.
Trent Ramsey - OL, East Lake (Tarpon Springs, FL) 88 247Sports
Ramsey, who is 6’5 and 275 lb, was offered by offensive line coach Angus McClure in April 2020. Before moving to Florida, Ramsey was based in Arizona and blocked for current Cal QB Kai Milner and former Cal QB Spencer Brasch at Higley. Ramsey visited West Virginia last week (they offered in September) but has no other visits scheduled.
Dylan Lopez - C, IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) 86 247Sports
Lopez is a former USC commit and previous resident of Rancho Verde, California. He stands at 6’2 and weights 285 lbs. Lopez was offered by the Bears in January and visited Oregon State last week (they offered May 2020).
Tyler Banks - LB, Nottoway (Crewe, VA) 85 247Sports
Banks is a recent Cal offer (inside linebackers coach Peter Sirmon only offered him less than three weeks ago), but the 6’1, 215 athlete is making the cross-country trip on an official visit already. Banks has visited Virginia Tech (offered October) and Michigan (April). He also plans to visit Vanderbilt (April offer) next weekend.
Luka Vincic - OL, Bothell (Bothell, WA) 86 247Sports
Vincic, who is 6’5 and weighs 275 lb, was offered by Coach McClure in October and has the Bears in his top schools. He visited Oregon State (January offer) last weekend and will visit Utah (November offer) next weekend.
The Bears added Nunie Tuitele and Curlee Thomas off of official visits in the last week. Who will join #CalGang22 from this weekend?
