So glad we will be in the tournament - whew. It was a great team win. Of course, it always helps when the other team isn't making their shots. ;-)

For me that was one of the most enjoyable games to watch because it was so hard fought and close to the end with a Bears victory. I love that Madsen has the team scoring on every inbounding, and wish he had more set plays with normal offense like Montgomery did. But the team played their hearts out, and we simply had more talent than BC.

Maybe Montgomery could become a team advisor.

Thanks Nick.

A six point possession would have hit TwistNHook’s high standards

I had high hopes for Blacksher after attending the USC game. It was nice to see him come through in this one.

He hasn’t been the same since his injury. It looks like he’s lost a step. He has a hard time beating his guy one on one now.

Mady was a beast in this one. BC didn't have an answer to him. He also showed that he could play tough while in foul trouble. I'm not sure Dort will be our best starting center option next year (and, of course, it's impossible to predict the roster anyway). But maybe he will be ready to take that leap in the off-season.

I think the foul on Wilkinson would have been upgraded if it had been called just because of the direct face contact. It's just shocking that the refs didn't call a foul at the time it happened. ACC reffing hasn't honestly met my expectations this year, though that's probably a me problem.

Dort is not the answer. He’s definitely still a work in progress and cannot be relied on to be a down under anchor. He gets in foul trouble too easily. The Bears will need to find help in the portal. Given Madsen’s background, I’m surprised that the Bears have not been able to attract better centers.

I disagree with you on Dort. I think with continued development he can be one of the better centers we’ve seen at Cal; he has uncommon strength and is a challenge to knock off the blocks. He has a quick jump and has shown the capability to get buckets in the key, but does have to make fewer fouls. I think the jury is still out on whether he’ll be a consistent force who can log big minutes, but I would not at this stage say he’s not the guy to take the reins. He may turn out to be. Of course my impressions are moot if Madsen decides to go in a different direction for the starting role.

The reffing has been very inconsistent. Madsen comes across as being a very loose coach, and maybe this gets him some grace with the refs. But he’s nearly gotten T’d up several times and then doesnt with his assistants holding him back.

It’s not a you problem. They’ve by and large been awful.

Disagree with your take on the flagrant foul. The defender swung his arm wildly and made direct contact with Wilkinson's head. It was a quick review by the officials.

They showed it on the screen at the game too and the crowd reacted loudly as well.
