I've been around Cal blogs a very long time and think this might be the most bitter, snarky, funny, and appropriately miserable post I've ever seen. I find it incomprehensible that the Old Blues with money don't feel this same way. I mean, how in Oskiland is being the single worst team in the country anything remotely resembling an example of UC Berkeley Fiat Lux?
I did that once when I was at Cal when Kevin Johnson sank the shot to send us into overtime against Oregon State. Pure pandemonium at Haas. Then we lost.
I was at the UCLA game his freshman year at Harmon where the same thing happened. Can't recall whether there was any court rushing, but the pandemonium you describe was present.
I'm having a hard time seeing how Cal is favored in ANY remaining games this season, although the nice thing about college sports in general is that there is always a team that has no business winning (such as Appalachin State vs. Michigan, Chaminade vs. Virginia, etc.) that somehow manages to pull off the upset. I'm trying to be hopeful but every time I think about Cal taking the court ANYWHERE, I laugh and cry at the same time.
I think we beat UTSA provided there’s no COVID issue that costs us Askew. He’s our only indispensable player…for all the Celestine and Clayton talk, Askew’s the only one. We beat Eastern Washington with him. UTSA should be our only win.
Knowlton is just as responsible for this disgrace as Fox. Since Christ thinks “there is more to winning” the whole carload of these losers, including Christ, will have to be fired and the program rebuilt from the ground up, Unbelievable, what a disgrace/mess/car wreck, add your own adjective.
I get your point, Bob, but I still think there is value in an Interim HC. Right now any reasonable recruit would/should Ghost any contact from Fox, but an Interim signals that Cal will definitely have a new HC next year, so the academically-minded recruit might at least respond to a Cal text and keep in contact during the season.
Generally agreeing with you. He could be fired now, though, just to make it official if ANY recruits might be interested... but I am not actually excited about Fox being fired any time that Knowlton gets to pick his successor.
I agree, there's not much point in making a change during this season. But i'd be willing to consider a select few: Marshawn Lynch, Jason Kidd, Lamond Murray, Al Grigsby, Mike Pawlawski, Brian Hendrick. And bring back Ivan Rabb in some role; we owe that guy.
I think he means asking them their opinion if firing Fox "would help" Cal's situation, as part of their decision making to fire Fox.. which is moot because they wouldn't do that and it's sort of an absurd premise.
The damage to the Cal Athletic Department each day Fox isn't fired just deepens.
Probably need covid to render a bad team's starting 5 inactive to eke one out in OT.

as an aside, Kemery Martin on the women's team nailed 5 3-pointers the other night. Can she suit up for the men's team?
Chancellor Christ: 'there's more than winning....'
Where are the NCAA finals this year in case I want to make reservations
The term I hate the most is "throw out the records" but maybe this is the best time to use it.
Are we the best winless team in the country?
Well played, tho I still think Louisville beats us by 3 possessions on a neutral court.
Do people not realize how incompetent Fox is?? As if Celestine and DeJuan Clayton would even make a difference. Really? Please.
I was thinking of going to games so I could rush the court if they won, but I think it would be awkward if the fans were outnumbered by the players.

I'm guess we'll be favorites against UT Arlington next Wednesday. Tough sailing after then. And, yes, I suspect we'll walk into one eventually.

Is shooting the moon a thing in basketball?
The kids still playing at least play with their hearts.
Not with how we shoot.
"the moon" ... by that do you mean Knowlton's bare arse?
Only if all opponents take retroactive losses for their wins.
It’s almost like our athletic director and head coach have no idea what they’re doing….
Almost?
Are you looking for the sarcasm font?
Do you not think we have an expertly run athletic department?
yes, experts at running the Rev sports into oblivion.
Maybe we go 1-31, beating Colorado.
We might be able to be the Buffalo football team at hoops....
In which case, we match Towson (2010-11) for the worst single-season record in Div. I basketball.
Great. Fantastic. Grand.
Stanfurd so Knowlton and Christ are happy and keep him around

Why can't they ask the existing assistant coaches to be the interim?

Ahh...that makes more sense. But, you never know with this administration.
