Is our D this year going to be as good or better than the Bear Minimum in 1968!?!?

Welp, I thought next year's DL was going to be good especially with the return of BJ but this ratchets up expectations. Coach Browning must be yoked and probably can't wait to get back to work w/ these kids.

OT: Austin Jones, remember him? RB from the East Bay that chose 'furd over Cal when he was offered a schollie late in the cycle. Welp, he just entered the portal. Our RB room is full of great kids already.

Him and Brett on the outside with all those youngsters as depth? This could be the best front 7 we’ve had in some time.

I like this transfer. He reminds me of a bigger Kuony or Cam Goode. at 6'6" 265#, if he's got some speed and toughness, he will be a solid add. Plus he's a legit high number 4 star. Along with Jackson Sirmon who is a 6'3" 235# four star linebacker, our defense just got better. And I like Jack Plummer over Jackson Dart. While Dart appears to have a great arm, he needs more experience. Plummer is tall and has a lot of game experience and will allow our young guys the opportunity to gain more experience. The more I read about Kai Milner the more certain I am that he has the 'it' factor and just needs a little more time to develop. Had we picked up Dart or Peter Costelli, our young guys may have not stuck around.

So X is transferring as a soph with 3 years to play?

Correct, Carlton has three years left.

Now go get Dart.

Would absolutely love it....but does his skill set fit Wilcox/Musgrave's banal, milquetoast O?

Great pickup and it is nice to see Plummer is officially official.

If those true freshmen pan out, Carlton breaks through in a new environment, and BRETT comes back 100%, we could contend for best D-line in the conference. Really excited for this group.

Yes, that was my thinking. The big bodies will allow Brett to play on the edge, and he will cause havoc. Now if we can only get good Oline play. And a QB who can throw the deep ball to receivers who are barely open.

You want long and fast players at the edge position. Brett is tall but he is BIG and STRONG. He actually has freak strength and with his championship wrestling background he would be better suited to a 3 tech position where he could absolutely wreak havoc and let loose the dogs of war inside. Can you imagine having a pair of 320# and 340# one techs who eat up double teams, a three tech like Brett who would just destroy any single blocker in front of him and probably chew up double teams as well, and an edge player like Carlton? Walk up the Stud on the other side and with a four man rush no opposing QB would ever have time to throw a pass. This is really a good get the more I think about it and with Sirmon in the middle we have just created a run stopping defense that will force teams to throw. This should be fun to watch.

Who can complete passes to receivers who are barely open, or wide open.

Big body guy, didn't get a lot of PT at Utah. Looks to slide into the DE rotation, probably as a 3 tech and wider.

I believe his mom moved to Utah his senior year for a new job. I do not know if it was between Utah or Cal for his final school decision, there were other programs in the mix, like Ohio State: https://www.frontrowpreps.com/posts/top-football-prospect-leaving-modesto-christian-for-perennial-utah-state-champion
