Might see him again in a couple years since there isn't a transfer limit. Good recruitment relationships can apply to HS or transfer players. I fully expect the door to be left open.
The nice thing is that the blue bloods can't hoard talent like they used to (which helped drive Saban out). It starts getting really expensive to pay guys to ride the pine, especially since guys can start elsewhere and potentially drive their value upward by performing well.
It comes down to coaching and bringing the right pieces for the year. Gives some kids who were over looked at high school, smaller schools or for a variety of other reason to play at a top University. There are more that want to come than want to leave. Free market!
It appears that the only way to keep depth is to come up with sufficient NIL bucks to retain or acquire players much like what the 49ers did prior to free agency restrictions which allowed their quick assent to their first Super Bowl. Playing time is important for a number of players, but yet, $ count.
The fall roster will be finalized once the spring portal is closed. Then look up the roster and you'll see who will actually be on the team for the 2024 season.
Yep, same. Even the ones we have recruited from HS, it seems like it isn’t worth paying attention or remembering them as most of them will end up transferring out without ever playing a down for us.
It's the way of the world of college football these days. If you have NIL $$ you're going to attract talent and some will be left behind. They will end up going elsewhere to get playing time and experience. Sorry to see him go, but its a new world. Best of luck to Tiumalu.

It's how we've gotten a few of our recent impact transfers

He didn’t have any stats so I doubt anyone is paying him any significant NIL money at the moment. This seems to do with playing time.
Well, we can't tell if Afalava left for better NIL money or playing time.
I have no idea who is even on this team anymore.

The portal seems to be open for way too long in my opinion.
I can't remember who we recruited from HS and who transferred from another college

I used to follow HS recruiting, I don't anymore not worth the time. Besides we are getting better players through the portal these days.
Wow. We keep losing depth pieces.
