Well done! How is it we can figure it all out in H2O polo, Rugby, Swimming and lots of other sports. Yet we continue to underachieve woefully in Hoops and Football?
Could be that hoops and football are now professional sports where success frequently follows $$, and we don't compete well financially. For those sports that are still (more) amateur, we compete beautifully. (Also, we probably have to acknowledge that water polo is still, shall we say, a small pool. Only perhaps 20 schools play at the top level, and only the top 6 (maybe) can think about a national championship.)
I know. That's why I said "think about." You can't deny that UCSB, for example, with Wolf Wigo in charge and some stellar players, isn't thinking about crashing the party. They're getting close. So I'm willing to be a little generous here.
