Both Cal Basketball Teams In Nearly Equivalent March Madness Bubble Situations
The California Golden Bears need all the wins they can get.
The California Golden Bears currently are situated in the place they’ve been for most of this winter—on the outside looking in of the NCAA Tournament. Cal has produced huge victories here and there, highlighted by the Stanford sweep, but the resume isn’t thick enough to guarantee a trip to the Dance.
The Bears continued to be haunted by a painful non-conference schedule, which landed them only one marquee win against UCLA and a host of Quad 3/Quad 4 rollovers.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Cal right next to Ohio State and USC and San Diego State in the First Four Out.
CBS Sports is one of the true believers, placing Cal as the last team in.
But currently CBS is only one of seven of 127 brackets in the Bracket Matrix projecting Cal in.
It’s close though. Very close.
If the Bears want to be as safe as possible about their tournament chances, Cal would want to win its final four regular-season games. They must beat Georgia Tech and Pitt and avoid bad losses at this juncture. A split of SMU tonight and Wake Forest might be enough.
Cal women’s basketball is in a similar spot. The Bears are listed as one of the next four teams out by ESPN. They will need to win their final two regular season games at home against SMU and Clemson, then likely make a sustained ACC tournament run to get to the NCAA tournament.
There are four Cal basketball games in Berkeley the next five nights! Come back home!

Looks like Lee Dort is off the injury report as well. Arguably the most important game of the season, it's go time!
We've come a long way. It's been so long since we could dream about the NCAA tournament.
Last year the men’s basketball program generated $5 million in revenue, a year after posting only $1,100.
$1,100 !!!!!!!!!!!
