Great and complete article. Gives me hope to stay engaged as a Cal fan.

I think MM is a good coach for us. He recruits solid players and coaches them up during the season. We just need one more push to make it to the NCAA and to attract an even higher base of players.

As for the money, don’t be surprised if it starts to flow away from football and towards basketball.

I also like the challenging, out-of-conference schedule. Sounds crazy, but I think those games (with even some loses) will push us to play at a higher level VS easy wins against blah opponents.

Nice article that has been a long time coming.

I saw the LMU game and could only get box scores from the Oregon State exhibition.

This team is a little strange. It's probably the deepest team we've had in a while, especially in the front court. However, it's very different from last year and there looks to be a huge drop off in terms of shooting. This reminds me of a slightly better version of the 2024-2025 team, in that this looks to be a downhill team with a bunch of guys that are not necessarily efficient scorers.

Hoping the team can balance out a bit by finding points from different spots beyond the 3-ball. We'll really need the bigs to contribute buckets. Otherwise, we'll be a team that grinds out some suprising, ugly wins...but loses many games because it just cannot keep up on offense.

I was so excited to see this team and, honestly, my heart kinda sunk after that first scrimmage. I am worried...but hope to be pleasantly suprised. It did take the team a few games to find its shot last season.

I was delighted by seeing Sammy Yeanay in the pre-season. He looks physically set - just a big fast and strong guy. I think he'll be able to take a big step forward.

Wilkins might be the best athlete we've seen under Madsen - his ability to run and jump and dunk were incredibly impressive.

Really good article: Thorough, realistic, upbeat. We have an excellent staff, and playing in the ACC is an advantage for us in West Coast recruiting. Money follows success. Playing in March Madness will be the improvement that brings in big donor money. Go Bears!

Live by the transfer portal, die by the transfer portal. This team got stripped for parts in the off-season and that degree of turnover makes it incredibly difficult to build a program with sustainable success. Still hopeful for this season but frustrated that we're stuck inching forward on a treadmill.
