Sounds like a familiar pattern. We are the training camp for NBA offspring. Come to Camp Madsen to get your game in shape for the B1G transfer....

At least they are coming. Now we have to win and give money!

Pippen to Ohio State; Ames to Tennessee. Would have hoped a few additions like Wilkens might have convinced them to reconsider. Oh well, time will tell what's ahead.

I'm guessing their money went to him and we're hoping Ruff and Carr are good enough

I thought maybe Pippen and Ames would stay because they seemed to be thriving in this system, and could be nucleus for a special team. Unfortunately, none of that matters anymore....or they know something we don't.

They know they're borderline and the best chance at the NBA is through a team that will actually make a splash in March. They also see the uphill battle that Cal basketball has. No matter how good Madsen is as a coach, we have to compete with Louisville, UNC, Duke, etc., with incomparable resources.

Until we can compete on a resource level, we will be a great training ground for B2 talent. But honestly, even that could get us close if Madsen perfects coaching up 1-year rosters.

NBA and Cal coaching relatives aside, seems like a great fit. Tall, athletic with the ball, and can defend? Yes please!

Length and athleticism on the perimeter. Nice.

We need a big time HS recruit to commit. Otherwise, I fear we will continue to be a proving ground for talented transfers who then immediately transfer once they have had a great season. We need to become an endpoint not a way station

As I recall Jeremiah Wilkinson was a big time HS recruit; he left after a year (though I see he's back in the portal so perhaps he'll realize his error and return to Cal to play with his Georgia teammate from this year, Wilkins????

He was a small time 3 star not even offered by the local Georgia Power schools. Madsen had a good eye

Yes, some sort of foundation would be good. I understand it is difficult.

That’s crazy; so in the last 10-15 years the following sons of NBA HOFers have played at Cal: Wilkes, Rooks, Irving, Marbury, Kerr, Stojakovic, Pippen, Wilkins….. am I forgetting anybody?

length, defense and athleticism

that's something we haven't said in years

Could we'll be. Also disappointed Rytis entered portal. He appeared to be with the team and fully engaged on their east coast trips.

They all simply want the money. Whats not being discussed is the impact of “agents” on these young kids. The agents tell them how much money they can get, are constantly canvassing the. Country to scout out possibilities and simply sell the player to make a quick 10-20% ( whatever it is I don’t know) and then go on their merry way. The player does very little. This all in the name of “name, image and likeness”, which is obviously a farcical label as it historically applies only to names/words that have real “brand” value in the commercial world. The only name value in the NIL circus is another name on the roster.
