Not related to this game but the thread is open so what the heck... CAL announced today signing two incoming MBB freshmen, one from LB Poly. I note the school because the announcement states he lead "the Mustangs" to some great result. Maybe I'm the only LBPHS alum on right now, but CAL has signed enough athletes from that school that someone should know they are the Jackrabbits.
If by "interesting" you mean bizarre. Teams sitting on opposite baselines? All that space between the court and the stands? Why would you design an arena that pushes all the fans away from the action?
For a team full of veteran players, Cal playing soft and getting completely embarrassed on the road against what is expected to be one of the worst P4 teams in the nation is a staggeringly sobering result.
We’ve known from day one that while the Bears are deep, they are light on impact players at this level, and the lack of athleticism has been exposed.
This loss would not be crippling like say, an L to Montana State, etc., and Cal will absolutely be a better team with more time together…but early returns are, troubling, at least from a Bubble resume perspective.
Was wondering going in to the year what the O would look like, given there really was not much to Madsen’s scheme…Jaylon Tyson’s brilliance saved a lot of possessions last year, CB91.
Definitely a bad half and don’t want to read too much into it, but the ACC slate is filled with athletic wings and the way they’ve struggled tonight is a concern.
Let’s see if the Tourney/Bubble is actually a realistic goal for this Cal team.
Go Bears!
And we have our answer.
I'm listening on the radio... spoiler alert... it gets worse.
What happened?
Just the runaway score.
I stopped listening so I can watch without the angst-producing knowledge of the future.
Are these refs ACC or SEC?
Probably doesn't matter.
SEC refs hate us for being ACC
ACC refs hate us for being from the "Left Coast".

Might want to play som fefense.
I think that’s my biggest concern.
You always hear defense is about effort. Unfortunately, the D under Madsen has not been nearly good enough to beat quality teams.
Sigh.
Blacksher has played a lot of basketball. Sissoko and Tucker too.
Petraitis, JOJ, Campbell and Omot are all juniors. They ALL look completely rattled tonight, and are playing so soft.
Yikes, so where’s the toughness? Mental or physical? Very, very passive.
Who is gonna be the bulldog, when they need one….hmmm.
It’s a very physical game so far
Bears playing soft. They look unsure.
Go Cal. Beat the Commies, I mean, Commodores. Go Bears!!!!!!
More on brand to root for the Commies over the Commodores…
#Calgorithm, Comrade
Kind of an interesting arena.

There was diamond vision thing that looks like an obelisk planted sight level in the corner.
Never seen anything like it. Bizarre.
Omot can at least create his own shot.
It's down to single digits. Go Bears!!
not so fast
Saw that coming. Cal is completely folding under the slightest bit of ball pressure.
Indeed
So much for that.

Guards are 2-8 with 5 turnovers. Frankly the eye test looks worse than the stats even.
Agreed.
We are playing soft on D and they are hand checking everything.
The TV announcers are annoying propaganda mouthpieces for The Paul Finebaum, er, I mean the SEC network
What do you expect. This is a SEC feed . When Cal is playing at home We will get the same from our local announcers
Actually, often, we get whatever ESPN announcers have lowest seniority. Any announcers biased for us are usually not such braggarts.
No plan on offense besides isolation
Exactly. There’s absolutely zero scheme.
Mike Montgomery...Calling Mike Montgomery!
