Good for Dmitrios...he was a prime candidate to open up a slot and all the better that he got the Cal paper...
Was he really a true PG, tho, BP? He got zero run on a team that sorely needed a PG...kind of the perfect microcosm of the Mark Fox player at Cal...made little impact on the court, graduated early, didn't beat up anyone while he was in town…
Doesn’t figure to be the only departure, given the current college basketball landscape and the prevalence of the transfer portal. What kind of player helps the Bears the most? An efficient, scoring PG or an accomplished, back to the basket big? I say PG.
Maybe we’ll get lucky & AK22 shocks the world and returns….
He and Hyder were both recruited as PG's, but neither of them were able to provide meaningful minutes. I agree with you, we need an efficient PG who can score. Some combo of Bowser, Thorpe, AK22 (fingers crossed), Lars will provide post minutes.
Everything flows from that PG spot…when you have a guy that is not a threat with the ball in his hands, it makes things so much tougher on the offensive side.
I've already done that in a previous post, and that was just who was already in the portal 3 weeks ago. There's more now.
As for the scoring PG issue, stating a fact that the entire world can see and no one in their right mind would argue is hardly a complaint, Bob...it's an observation. Watch ANY of the teams in March Madness, and then watch pretty much any Cal game in the Fox era, and you can see it, plain as day.
Ya, I think that’s the gist of the portal - once you enter your name, you can be contacted without it being tampering. Fox knows the procedure - whether he can land someone that can elevate the players around him and help this team win is another issue. Cal’s probably not gonna outgun many P5 teams for impact guys, but a more effective ball handler/efficient shot creator could maybe elevate Celestine, Alajiki, and Kuany, provided they show normal improvement as they develop.
Best of luck to him. - graduated early. Yes he was end of the rotation. But, he was also a true PG, something we sorely need.

Good luck to him but he mostly rode the pine.
