I mean I thought we were going to see a sizable drop-off from Wilkinson and Stojakovic because Ames and especially Pippen didn't show much in prior stops.
I agre, although the drop off in scoring talent seems more worrisome along the font line. With the loss of Camden and Bell, both of whom averaged 14 points a game and shot 40% from downtown.
On paper, yes, but we’ll see. I’m worried about the 3 point shooting.
That said, I do think Cooper will give them similar numbers to Justin Pippen, and would not be the least bit surprised if he actually exceeds JP’s SO numbers…Cooper was far more productive FR year at Wright State than anything JP showed at Michigan, and this system will allow him plenty of freedom. The assist numbers may suffer because we may not have the shooters to finish, but I look for a more efficient season out of Cooper than we got from Pippen, who really struggled with his shooting in ACC play.
Ross will fill the DeJuan Campbell role more than adequately. Indrusaitis can put the ball on the deck and get in the paint, so look for him to play some at the 2 and 3.
Wild cards are Ruff and Bakare - can MM get productive minutes out of them…and can either hit an outside shot?
What about Bigs Jimmy? Have not heard much about flux at the 5 spot.
And while I would have loved to build around Ames and Pippen, I am hoping whatever combination we get can give us a little bit more scoring balance. You can live and die by the 3 ball and we did.
I’d love one more big for the rotation…as is you are counting on Lee to stay healthy AND out of foul trouble, and honestly he struggled a bit with both last year, especially if he’s going to be chasing ball handlers around at the top of the key, as MM loves his bigs to do. Prone to drawing silly fouls 30 feet from the bucket - maddening.
If Mitrovic can play as a true FR, it opens things up a bit. He can play alongside Dort…not sure he can be counted on as a true FR to hold down the C2 spot, so you’re probably looking at Kocanas getting minutes and hoping he can improve enough to give you what Ilic gave you this past year, which honestly was not much, at least defensively. And does Dut improve enough to get in the back end of the rotation?
Yeah, another big would be nice. And now they need another G because Carr just portaled.
I'm worried about the lack of shooting going into next year. Cooper shot decently from 3 and Indrusaitis shot well last season. But Wilkins and Ross are both bad shooters + everyone returning from last season into next is not an outside threat either. Hope it's not like the '24/25 season team which just had no spacing
Solid addition…a legit P4-caliber player who can run an offense and defend the position.
Bears could maybe use one more shooter, though. Cooper and Indrusaitis are currently the only proven threats from beyond the arc…Ruff, TT, Yeanay, and the 2 FR are all unproven, and Wilkins needs a lot of work. One more legit threat would be fantastic.
Looks like a pretty decent pickup, trajectory seems upward just looking at the stats. Georgia finished in the middle of the SEC last year so they're no slouch.
The BEARS went down to Georgia look'in for some players to steal, they were in a bind because they were way behind and willing to make a deal.... well, you get the rest ;-) ... let's get some big name power forward - the Iowa state guy, Graves, or the St. Mary's dude. ROLL out the $$$ and ROLL ON!
I am sure Coach would love to have the kid from St Mary's. Apparently he turned down a big money offer from Kentucky. I assume Arizona State has the inside traction with Bennett as HC. Wouldn't be surprised for UConn to enter the discussion at some point. Cal BB just cannot compete at that level of $$$ for one player.
Unless one of these new recruits shows something not seen, the guard play drop off seems sizable.

Carr too. Man.
Dude flashed and had some bounce for a smaller size. Not the answer though.

Shooting .420 you say?
