The California Golden Bears (5-5, 0-3 Pac-12) will have to wait until 2021 to earn their first Pac-12 conference win. The Golden Bears lost to the No. 21 Oregon Ducks (7-1, 2-0 Pac-12), 69-82, on New Year's Eve.
The Ducks held the Golden Bears' shooting to 44% in Eugene, Ore.
Junior guard Matt Bradley once again led the visitors in scoring, booking 21 points and three rebounds in 33 minutes of game time. Graduate-transfer Makale Foreman scored 14 points and had two rebounds. Both guards made four three-pointers each on the night.
To California's credit, the visiting team went into halftime down by only one point, 35-36, but lost momentum as the game continued.
Oregon pulled away in the second half, at one point holding the Golden Bears to a scoring drought of more than four minutes in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Turnovers proved especially costly for California. The Ducks scored 25 points from Golden Bear turnovers and added 14 fast-break points.
California will travel to Corvallis, Ore., to play the Oregon State Beavers (4-3, 0-1 Pac-12) on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 3 p.m. PT. The Beavers, like the Golden Bears, are also winless in league games this season.
