The California Golden Bears (7-14, 2-12 Pac-12) rallied in the second half but could not overcome their arch-rival, Stanford Cardinal (12-7, 8-5 Pac-12), dropping a Sunday night decision, 70-76.
While California improved from its Thursday 55-70 shellacking against Stanford, the result was never in doubt for the Peninsula team. The Cardinal's advantage was as high as 19 points after the halftime break.
Stanford senior forward Oscar da Silva, the Pac-12 Conference scoring leader, continued his winning way. He put a game-high 23 points, connecting on nine out of 15 field-goal attempts.
The Golden Bears scored five of their last six field-goal attempts of the game, including three-pointers from Grant Anticevich and Jarred Hyder, to close the gap. California also held Stanford to a scoring drought in the last 2 minutes and 31 seconds.
Four Golden Bears scored double-digits: Matt Bradley put in another team-high performance with 15 points. Hyder added 13 points, and Ryan Betley and Joel Brown contributed 12 points each.
Our guys really lack that subtle shooters touch in the paint. It is all of these "easy," up-close baskets that we whiff...that other teams make. If I were Fox I would have them shoot 4 footers for 4 days straight.
We did go over this the last time we had an opening and as much as I would LOVE it, there is bachelor's degree requirement from what I've read to be an NCAA coach. So unless he came back to get his degree that we don't know of, he'll have to work something out to do that. sadly. but if they can get that cleared? Hey. Im all for it.
knowing Cal there must be some subrule where Cal head coaches have to have a doctorate and have gone through the Haas School of Business while doing so and also having to watch 100 hours of Sonny Dykes's defense at Cal.
No, he is not the solution. He’ll run a clean program, and hopefully, eventually, get the squad to a “respectable” .500 if given 5-6 years, but his teams lack dynamism and innovation. You’re hoping for fundamentally sound defense and execution on offense, neither of which has been displayed this year.
The lack of development and improvement from his players from last year, specifically in the post, is very troubling, and the excuses of COVID & injuries are blah.
I’ll give him that covid pass for EARLIER in the summer when they couldn’t really practice or do anything. But you havent missed any games to covid. Missed any players due to covid. And the team is LARGELY in tact from last season. I just don’t get how covid is a valid excuse for what’s transpiring defensively.
joel had one of his best games as a bear. he's driving much more under control, can hit the wide open 3, and can is a better finisher around the rim. he even went 4-5 from the line. of the freshmen class, he's shown by far the most improvement in his soph year, and a lot of that improvement has been during the season
Brown is the only player that seems to have shown any development since last season. Bradley’s a stud that has seen a stat bump by an increase in volume.

Petition to hire me as Offensive assistant coach.
Can we fire everyone, hire Jason Kidd, and then get back relevant?

**Narrator** They didn't.
better than first game ... more players contributed, but Matt didn't have the all world game as in the first match up
Sad but I watched it. Down 19 I was surprised we came back but it was too little too late. I don't think fox is the solution to our woes though...
