I know lots of us walked away after the debacle of the last two coaching staffs and lack of administration support, but this coaching staff and team are putting it all out there. The crowds are getting better (6K TU, 5K last night) but we can do better Cal family. Let's show up for these guys!
You mentioned the ball security by Carr and Pippen being a key. Similarly, the entire team only had 3 turnovers. This is the stat of the game. Given the physical nature of the game so few turnovers is probably what really won the game for the Bears. Now they really need to work on shot selection.
Some people will say shooters will shoot aka the Splash Brothers, but if I’m the opponent I’ll contest shots and let them keep shooting themselves out of the game. Most players are not out of Splash Brothers level.
One of the most improbable endings I've seen. Dai Dai completed a rare Double Horry to steal this one.
We really do live by the 3 and die by the 3. Would like to see more passes inside. Camden, Dorsey, and Bell took some terrible shots that broke our rhythm.
Ilic looked more confident offensively than I've seen him so maybe that aspect will evolve. Both he and Dort need to get better on defense without fouling and avoid over-committing far from the basket. They both had 4 fouls so I'm not sure either one would make it through OT. I like Kocanas's energy but he did not look ready.
Fantastic game experience. Amazing ball security. Dai Dai saved our butts, as the offense got stagnant near the end. Lack of inside scorer is hurting us.
Hopefully, they'll be more "brutal" practices and film sessions to keep the offense active all game.
The downside of going inside is that often when the ball should go back out it doesn’t and Dort is putting up a tough shot that has little chance of going in.
It was 5.5 seconds remaining that felt like an eternity when the last sequence started with the Irish advancing the ball to the front court to set up a last play. They were able to get a shot off by the guy they wanted to take the shot but his contested shot was short.
What is going on with John Camden? Against the P4 teams on the schedule (UCLA, KSU, LOU, and ND) he has scored a TOTAL of 16 points and been the worst of all of the starters by far. Against everyone else he's been lights out scoring 20 PPG. If it is truly that he is not athletic enough to get open against the good teams (I'm not sure about that), they need to replace him in the starting lineup or regardless look for some type of answer in their schemes or player rotation. And just a really bad break that three of their most valuable players Ruff, Petraitis and Yeaney are out. Unless one or more of those guys can play, it doesn't look like they have enough horses for ACC play.
Before ND made a 3 in the waning minutes, Ames had to rush a shot when the clock operator only gave Cal a 20-second shot clock after a change of possession. (At 4:51, Imes threw the ball away. At 4:32, Ames, who was probably wondering why the clock was about to expire, missed a desperate 3, leading to a quick 3 the other way). It was maddening. ND deserved the loss for that sequence alone.
Great win! Go Bears!! A very rough stretch coming up and we needed this confidence boost

PS last night was a blast in person!

Whether it be football or basketball, Notre Dame seems comfortable playing the victim these days.
Sad sports.
I’m not sure I can watch a lot of games that end like that at my age.
“What happened to him?”
“He was watching Cal bball when he died…”
I hear you. But didn’t that feel good anyway?

He needs to take playing more seriously. He’s a little goofy but needs to get serious when it comes to game time.

It's definitely where we're weakest. It was funny when Kocanas thought he was Shaq and learned he wasn't. Can't blame a man for having hoop dreams.
Rich Lyons showing up in the locker room afterwards was great. https://x.com/CalMBBall/status/2007355513118568781
Absolutely crazy ending to game. I’ve never witnessed anything like it in Haas
The 2 threes from Dai Dai (and FT) were mind blowing, and the cherry on top was the ND coach losing it and running from half court to assault the ref!
Watched the highlights what a win! Dai Dai is exceptional at creating his own shot and knocking down difficult shots. Go Bears!

SMU beat UNC. Is there hope?
That's why I call him:
Dai Dai $$$

Just variance. Shooters got to shoot. He'll regress to the mean, eventually.

U should be able to edit your own comment above. Look to the three dots in upper right hand corner….
He went full Jack Nicholson on him: “you messed with the wrong head coach..!” Crazy
