so Cal has a 17% shot at beating Ducks on the road? That's higher than the odds I would give us. However, I watched an earlier game and thought oregon looked extremely undisciplined and said I thought Cal would have a shot at them at home.

but that was before Kelly was out for the season

everything good has to happen for cal to win this one (e.g. few turnovers, good 3 point shooting, good 3 point shooting defense, a couple ducks in foul trouble, etc)

Ducks start slow under Altman bc he’s always acclimating practically an entire new team with transfers, etc.

They’re playing much better. Cal has a shot to stay sorta close if they limit the TO’s. Grant & Shepherd both need to play well tho.

Good post. Yeah, he’s the master at bringing is a lot of talented athletes and meshing them together into a good team 3/4s into the season

The transfer portal now super charges his plug and play strategy. At first he’d get under the radar players with limited size (remember the Rice transfer?).

Now he gets high profile talent.

The other difference is he would have undersized athletic posts who played bigger than their size.

Now he gets long, athletic talent.

Oregon’s low admission barriers and Papa Nike fuel the train

Exactly. The portal has really accelerated Altman’s strategy…he identifies players that fit, and he’s a helluva coach. They’ll be a tough 8/9 seed over the weekend for Auburn or Kansas.

I thought the P12 would get 5 after CO beat the Ducks at Matt Knight but looks like it’s a 4-bid league.
