It wasn’t an option...Smith had interviewed and was already in negotiations with Wazzu before we even fired Wyking...and Knowlton clearly wanted Fox, bc he was hired 4 days later...

Anyone hoping there’s another change at the top of the program is probably going to be disappointed. Fox will get year 4, and if he treads water in ‘22-‘23 as he’s doing this year (basically beating bad teams at home and registering competitive losses to good ones), then he’ll get extended. But for fux sake can he recruit a damn point guard?

The disastrous Wyking hire set the program back a decade...we’re in year 5 and barring some scandal, Fox isn’t going anywhere....sigh...

Did AIden from Campo have any interest in Cal? Do not think we offered him. He committed to St Mary’s

They offered him. He has an offer post on his Twitter account. We were also in his final 4/5. They did not “drop out” he picked them for a better basketball program in its current state. Simple as that.

That’s not always correct. Always cross reference other recruiting sites or their personal social media pages. Unless someone updates it on their profile at 247 it doesn’t automatically just go up.

Also hard commit is regards to their commitment not the offer.

To attract the type of player we need I would think it would start with having a young dynamic assistant coach that can develop potential talent at the point guard position. Do we even have someone like that? Having the Pac-12 regain its national footing could help a little. Any good uncommitted point guards coming to the high school showcase at contra costa college next week?

I think Fox thought he was getting a better player in Hyder, and who knows, maybe the nagging injuries are behind his ineffectiveness at the P5 level, tho I doubt it. He struggles with turnovers, defense, and isn’t much of a shooter/scorer. This whiff has had a major filter down affect on our PG situation, & things actually get worse next year bc we lose Makale and there’s no one in the kitty....yet

Gotta think they are working hard to bring in someone else that can complement JB next year and take over from there. I admire Fox’s loyalty to his guys and patience to build a foundation from the ground up but its time to step it up.

Agreed. Any idea if Roberson can play some point or at least handle the ball while penetrating and dishing out? Do we even know if he can handle more then a minute or two here and there?

I am a full fledged member of the Alajiki fan club. Feels like Fox is limiting his minutes for some reason. Could be injury.

Thought I heard somewhere he had a hand in KD Okufor coming to Cal.

Agreed. From the day we signed him, I've been all aboard the Alajiki train after seeing some of his film...the athleticism and measurables were there, and the range out to three is great. He was instrumental in Okafor signing.

This kid should be getting 20+ minutes a night, easy...
