Cal Men’s Basketball secures transfer of former 4-star recruit Devin Askew
A surprise of a transfer
Mark Fox has secured his first Point Guard signing of his Cal tenure at Cal in former 4-star recruit Devin Askew. Askew is from Sacramento, CA but played his high school basketball at Mater Dei. He was a 4-star recruit and top 30 prospect in the 2020 class and began his college career at Kentucky. After one season in Lexington, he transferred to Texas, where he played last season.
The 6-3 guard will undoubtedly get the chance to start right away and have a huge role in the offense. Askew did use his one time transfer waiver when he moved to Texas, so will need to file another waiver with the NCAA if he wants to play this season.
Welcome to Berkeley, Devin!
We don't have reliable inside scoring. We don't have reliable outside scoring. We don't have consistent drive to the basket players. Got to have some of one or the other...
As I added. As it stands he probably has to submit another waiver to play this year. If he doesn’t get it he’s not an impact recruit. Won’t play until 22-23 seasob.
