Just how it goes these days. We don't have the money to outright buy star players. But hopefully we can pony up enough to create a competitive enough package.
One thing to consider causing these exits is the fact that at Cal you have to go to class and keep up a decent GPA. Not the case in many of the "diploma mills" out there who we have to compete with.
I’ve heard his phone is ringing off the hook with players wanting to play for Cal. But many, & their parents & some agents, seeking the most astronomical dinero possible.
Given the purported culture under Madsen of a band of brothers playing for each other, I suspect the newfound college-level agent class has something to do with this. “Test the waters…you could be a well-compensated star” has a lot of pull to a mid-to-late-stage adolescent.
This may well be the case, but seems hard to build a deep team in this mode (and depth hurt us this year). Brown Jr., Okafor, Askew, Newell had their short comings but they were all solid rotation players. This seems strange.
Bowser in the portal too. Had been meaning to ask about his disappearance this season. I figured he was injured.
I think Coach Madsen owes us an explanation as to why there are so many guys in the portal. Not sure how we can afford to build a bench.
Jaylin, no you can’t leave! LOL

Seems like more movement than I would expect for a coach with a reputation of being so great to play for…..
At least in basketball unlike football you don't need many to be good just great coaching!
