Man our shot selection has been pretty poor. I'm already indifferent on Joel brown shooting open 3's as it is but man I never want him shooting straight up like he did from the corner. It does look to me like UCLA is rattled after actually having to play a team with resistance like Cal gives which is good.
That's twice Cal has gone with rollers on screens and forgetting to actually guard the player with the ball. Tyger Campbell layup once and a 3 this time.
All in all, a pretty predictable weekend v the LA schools - managed to hang with both for about 30 minutes before the massive talent gap became just too much. The Bears just don't have guys that can consistently score the ball v. elite defenses.
But in year 3, there's definitely signs of progress. Would be nice to see Anyanwu, Alajiki (when healthy) and Kuany get as many minutes as possible. I'd say let's see more of Hyder, but not sure if the minutes will help him.
Every now and then Kuany makes a WOW play that makes you shake your head and say "If only he could do that more consistently."
I think KK is one of those players that maybe started playing hoops just a little late....talent and athleticism-wise, I could see him in the rotation at a blue blood - bouncy, long, lanky, 6'9" kid with some handle....he looks the part, he's just still so raw....
If Fox can get him to stay his 5th year (that extra COVID season of eligibility), he could be a difference-maker....he's just not there yet.
Too bad we can't sign the guy from the East Bay who will be attending St. Mary's. Mahaney? He could do it all and, from his tape, reminds me a bit like Pistol Pete. He would fill Haas. Still, from the little I've seen, our best future player we now have is Alajiki. He hasn't taken many shots, but I think he's over 50% from three. Has the look of someone who could be scintillating.
Can't dribble and can't pass right now. What a combination to have as a team.

Thiemann still has stone hands and never looks to pass. Unbelievable his lack of awareness independent of his hook shots so far.

Seems like cal is getting mugged under the basket but not getting any calls
THERE'S one of those Kuany plays!

You can't play Brown, Lars and Hyder at the same time, Fox. Come on.
is there any way to message any of the writers here?
I feel like nobody ever wants to talk about Marsalis Roberson he’s probably gonna be the best out of all the freshman

Joel Brown's line tonight was about as bad as it gets for PG: 0 pts, 2 assists and 4 turnovers in 30 mins.
Love the kid and he's a great Cal Bear, but I am ready for Grant to move on.
That was a foul on bernald (no call) and then they called a cheap foul on 2K
Too many bad turnovers
Cal is in the game. Go Bears!
Shepherd had several nice passes. Looks like a PG today … that give and go to Kelly was beautiful
Kuany with an immediate turnover....I really am rooting for him but man....
Nice step-back tho!!! Bueno
Cal not getting antsy shots
Watched Matt Bradley ball out on prime time/channel with SDSU...whooped on #20 Colorado St. by 30. SDSU could have a deep run in the tourney.
