This was the most fun I've had watching a Cal basketball game since Monty strolled the sidelines. Seeing guys pass it so well, shoot it well, do the pick and roll, inside outside game, just wonderful to watch. Yippee and thank you coach Madsen for bringing life back to the Bears. Already love Tyson and his all ball approach. Reminds me a bit of Jorge. We have size, skill and depth. What's this? A solid basketball team. Hallelujah!
KK is their best defender, and his slashing ability allows him to get into the paint and will really help on O as well. Team’s not full strength until he’s in.
I know it's redundant to say but even if this team doesn't perform to our hopes, it's still exciting compared to years past... not to kick a dead horse but jesus what was Mark Fox smoking?
I’ll kick a dead horse because I despise Mark Fox the man as well as the basketball coach….he’s an absolute boob.
You see in Askew/Newell/Celestine that there is skill. Simply by virtue of better coaching, we’re just flat out better. It’s delightful…the last 6 years have been miserable for all of us.
I completely agree and couldn't have said it better myself. I kept tuning into games hoping that we would suddenly "turn it around". It almost seemed like he WANTED to suck - because how else could we be that consistently bad for that long?
I want us to win by as many as USC (although I'll settle for just winning - this is Cal after all) because in my demented mind that means we are as good as USC.
It's crazy - even the announcers mentioned the free-throw disparity. I know we probably foul but there is no way they don't as well. The disparity is insane!
I haven't been able to watch more than a few minutes at a time of the game because my toddler demands we play Thomas the train and Dinosaurs but - wow, we show some pretty impressive quick score potential that I never saw the last 3-4 years. I miss having a dominant big man in the middle the likes of Michael Steward (back in the day). I'm less impressed with our defense although may be I'm looking at it the wrong way?
Good win.

I take NO victory lightly after the Mark Fox era. Good win.
How does Jaylon Tyson have 12 rebounds? And 7 assists?! Wow. Didn't shoot well but filled out the stat sheet regardless.
18 assists. Nice
Feels like it’s been a minute since we dropped 80 in regulation.
We shoulda won this game by 30. Padilla and crew called just a dreadful game.
With our injuries I'm less familiar with non-playing players - do we have a lock-down on ball defensive player?
We do, Keonte Kennedy. He should be out for like 1 more week
Thanks, I appreciate it.

We’ll definitely know more about this team.

SC won by 26. But they didn’t have idiot Tony Padilla on the crew. That’s a big difference - this crew is horrid.
We got a shot. But we foul way too much.

you are looking at it the correct way. D is still a work in progress. Way too many defensive fouls in the paint.
Athletically we seem able to but then resort to dumb fouls. Thanks for the update!
And Askew with a Flagrant on a break-away. Just not smart. Though for sure it was gonna be upgrade to a Flagrant 2. (these are p12 refs, after all)
The referee's (Pac-12) are the only positive part of the Pac's demise.
No so fast, 512. I follow the ACC and their refs are almost as bad as ours. Just sayin'
I love buckets
Tyson prognosis?
Cramping again?
get that kid some iv fluids. (Or tell him to drink a LOT more water before games.)
So he’s playing?
Ya. He started. Hit a 3 to give Cal a 31-24 lead.
And his shot looked incredibly impressive!
Glad to hear. Looked not so good after pacific game
Buckets dropping tonite
Askew playing very well tonight. Really increases the ceiling of this club when he plays well.
Okafor with some solid minutes too.
Typical Tony Padilla bullschitt tonight. Cal getting whistled tightly, but they’re letting Bako get away with more contact. Silly.
Bears struggling early this season to defend without fouling. Refs with anticipatory whistles, as usual.
yes, a lot of reaching in. Big guys just need to go straight up with their arms, and make the smaller Runners shoot over them
Why is askew wearing sunglasses?
He got poked in the face/eye towards the end of last game.
Thanks
Eye poking protection and sensitivity to lights…per announcers.
Thanks I missed that
