Wonder when this site will switch over and start doing some basketball post game threads and analysis? This was a fun win, and the guys played fairly smart and hard, as Monty pointed out. Lots of extra passes and set plays, which I love. Bottom line is that we were picked to finish last, like the Beavs last year, and we will not. No more than middling, but given the expectations, middling with some fun wins mainly at home, will be still satisfying.
Still too many turnovers by Grant & Joel, but agreed - pretty good win. I've definitely seen worse 1-7 teams than that OSU squad...they're really missing Ethan Thompson but with Alatishe and Lucas, they'll probably figure it out at some point this year...
It was a solid Pac-12 win. Sloppy at times but shepherd and Company closed it out.
Highlight of the game was when Shepherd went to the line to shoot two and the four others were huddled with coach. Then for the second one the strolled to half court.
This is the Grant and Jordan we want all year long. Jordan as a part of the whole, and Grant to not overthink it. Such a difference from the first few games of the year.
I like this version of Shepherd these last 2 games. Quiet 17 points against FSU, quiet 10 so far tonight with a couple nice defensive plays. He's not forcing it.
I like this offensive strategy. Plan A is to run it through Kelly, plan B is to dribble drive and kick to the shooters. Plus, it helps that this may be Grant's 30 point game for the year.
19-9 Cal with the early lead. They look solid so far. The Beavs have a taunting T and are trying outnumbered transition plays. Weird that Cal is the more competent team on the court.
That honor would go to Jack Wilson, Serra grad of 2018, Went to Oregon State basketball, transferred to Idaho basketball, and is now on Washington State Football. He actively lost us games. He was soft.

Monty actually said we would be a good team...😺 😺 😺
Probably when the team is competitive.
Kelly solid, Shepherd drained his jumpers - defense from Joel, Kuany, and Alajaki. Good start Bears! Utah on Sunday...

More minutes for Alajiki please!

Nice win by the boys....Beavers are bad, but you hold a team to 61, make your FTs...
Way too careless with the ball, but a win's a win. Nice!
Andre F-ing Kelly, folks.....solid
From the announcers. On a 24-for-31 shooting tear.
Love hearing Monty say Cal's gonna be a tough team to beat....hope that's the case.
Why Oregon St wasn't fouling Joel Brown down 8 with 70 seconds left is beyond me....
Maybe we're gonna have to just live with Jordan Shepherd's hoists this year...I s'pose
Then the brick and the and-1 on the defensive side. Not a good sequence.
Yup...sigh.
Andre Kelly gonna make a serious bid for All Pac 12 honors this year....good on ya

Grant is strictly a catch and shoot guy tho....he hurts them with the ball in his hands.
They gag leads sooooo quickly
Alatishe is good
Another lazy pass from Joel, then an offensive foul. Weird spot for him.
Multiple bad decisions by Brown letting Beavs back in the game
Nice answer by Grant. Keep shooting it
"If you're gonna do it wrong, do it right....." now that's a motto
Much better showing by Shepherd. He's playing in control. THIS we like
More Alajiki please, Mark
Thank You
Pure
Board
Good on the ball defense as well. Kid's smart.
Agreed - 6'7", 225...nice stroke, and plays D...he's one you can build around.
I hate both Gene and Jean. They're both insufferable.
I prefer Jean to Gene
If they end up going to Sonic and getting eczema medication, the universe may implode.
Seriously, can we get better commercials. I blame Larry Scott.
C'mon Lars finish that off.
Grant's a turnover machine when he tries to put the ball on the floor....yikes
Grant is careless with the basketball.
That Oregon State Elite-8 run last March was pretty fun to watch, tho....ya gotta give it to them.
Attack Roman Silva. Dude is built and moves like a cement mixer
Take it to him, Lars!
Don't tempt me with a good time.
Kuany starting to figure things out, folks! Get excited people!!! Where's the band????
2022 is the Kuany breakout year
Nice board by Shepherd. Atta kid

Agreed - if he plays within the flow and doesn't force it, he can be a solid contributor!
It's the 3-17 type nights that are the killers.....
Kelly's solid on the block, I'll give him that
Hey Mark Fox, why do you have only 1 point guard on the roster?
Hyder is supposed to be that guy as well, but we won't dwell on that.
Agreed - good point.
Well thats the Cal team I know. Build a 13 point lead from the shadows then blow it immediately.
Yup...that was a parade of bricks down the stretch....back iron

And it comes to a screeching halt when Joel is off the floor. 12-0 run by OSU to close out the half, but Cal still leads by 1 at the half.
That was a pretty bad turnover
Yeah, but I still would have him on the court for the last 2 minutes of the half.
Oh absolutely....they have 1 f-ing PG on the team....wtf????
Scratch that last place prediction. This is a Cal team that can get some splits during the season.
Eh, not so sure, alpha, respectfully....the last 4 minutes of this half is what this team is.
Somebody hit a mid-range jumper FFS
WHOA!!!
Kelly is slooooooooow

How come Foreman looks like he's 32 years old?
And an Iraqi and Afghanistan War vet?
I can root for this team of underdogs.
