I think we'll beat Furd. Then SC and UCLA come to town which will be more of a litmus test. If we can win one of those games it will set the stage for further improvement.
I must have watched a different game. Were it not for the refs making a dizzying array of phantom calls, or the opposite of the correct call, starting when the game was ~tied with 8 minutes to go, this would have gone down to the wire. Those calls took all of the steam out of UOP’s engine. Cal played listlessly, as if it was a scrimmage, for 32 minutes. That’s not going to cut it, even against the bottom half of the PAC.
Now that was a good second half of basketball...Grant hit his shots, finishing with 7 3's, the Bears limited the 2H turnovers, and Shepherd got more shots going to the tin, where he's better, as opposed to settling for jumpers, in which he's worse.
This team weathered a rough second 10 minutes of the game, and ratcheted up the D in the 2H.
That's a nice 20 point win on a day when Andre Kelly really struggled to get anything going, as UOP collapsed on him every touch.
Yeah, a semi-smart move got him going with 9:00 left - can't get the ball to him in the low post? Fine, give it to him outside that, and have him take his man one on one to get inside - it wasn't easy, but it worked.

Oh man if only this team could find an offensive minded point guard that are the antithesis of Brown and Hyder
My apologies to MBB. No matter the strength of sched, this is way better than I expected. And I could see us splitting most games in conference.
Well, splitting *overall*, sure, but we're not likely to beat U.C. LA or AZ.
Good win Bears ! 🐻
Nice win. Grind it out!
8-5 heading into 2022...progress.

And Grant's parents are in town! First time in a few years for them to see him.

Nice to see a great game! UoP was determined to shutdown Kelly. The team adjusted and Grant made them pay for it.
Go Bears!
In the radio shows, they speculated that Kelly was pressing because UoP is his hometown team.
I wouldnt blame him either the bragging rights and pressure to perform against your city are something else
Lars has improved his FT shooting...nice work Lars.
Drew Schiller is hard to listen to as a commentator....yikes.
Yuck...didn't think Haas could get any more lifeless....then the P12 says hold my beer and throws a 3 pm Wednesday tip-off at us. Yikes.
Jordan Shepherd with an absolutely Jordan Shepherdarian-like 1-6 shooting line in the 1H....
Wish Alajiki got more minutes.
