I totally agree with the recent sentiment. The losses are frustrating but have almost entirely been competitive! That's all we really ask is to have a chance to win in every game and Madsen and the team have really delivered. I've never liked a team with a losing record so much but their comeback to send it to overtime against San Diego was awesome! I hate the losses but I actually ENJOY watching them play because there is always a chance we could win!
SDSU is likely the second best team we'll play this year after Arizona. They started the season ranked and dropped out after a loss at BYU, but will undoubtedly be ranked again in the next few weeks.
Unlike previous years, SDSU features a highly competent offense, anchored by NPOY candidate Jaedon LeDee. LeDee leads the nation in scoring and draws a ton of fouls inside when he's not muscling straight through people. Other key scorers include transfer sharpshooter Reese Waters, who's shooting 43% from deep, and Lamont Butler, who can be a bit inconsistent but hit a buzzer beater to send the Aztecs to the National Championship last April.
Defensively, the Aztecs are still known for their ferocious man defense. They generate nearly 10 steals per game so far through a schedule that's featured some very respectable competition. SDSU isn't quite the premium defense they typically are, allowing 42.6% opponents shooting, but they're still extremely stout and make defense a core philosophy.
How do we win? Historically, the best way to beat the Aztecs as an overmatched team is simply to have a hot shooting night. SDSU loves to wear teams down through lengthy defensive possessions and frequent switches, so Cal needs to take the best shots we can get without draining too much clock. SDSU also lacks a true PG, so packing the line to force SDSU into extra 3 pt attempts will help. If the game gets close late, spring the full court press early- SDSU has struggled against it several times and is prone to late game turnovers.

Great effort despite the loss! This team will absolutely pull off some upsets this year
Mad Dog has a team with a heart!
Rodney Brown folks!!
Great tech in retrospect and fantastic defense- SDSU hasn't scored since 6:15
what just happened? I missed the action when we were down by 10!
Tied with 50 seconds
Jaylon looks like he can take over the game minutes at a time
Cal's done a great job of limiting turnovers after the slopfests earlier this week
out of a TO you don't know that you have 2sec on the shot clock?
the last game I saw was against Pacific - have we been improving despite the losses?
Cal is making it competitive for now.
It's tied after a few minutes.
Monty really struggling at this level.
On our way up now from North County - approaching I-5 from CA-56, named after the Splendid Splinter.

Any injured players returning today?
