Great win for the Bears.

You could see the emotional release by the players.

Hope this is a confidence booster going forward as this team has potential to be a solid group.

Next 5: @ Butler, v Ole Miss (TX), v USCD, v U of A, v ASU...

Would LOVE 3-2...

Team needs to rebound better...allowed 17 offensive boards.

But with Kennedy back, you see a real difference.

Once Askew and Celestine back, things are gonna look a lot better. And if Newell starts hitting some shots, Cal can hang with any team in the P12 Conference, at least at home.

Nice answer and energy to SCs attempt at a comeback. Go bears!

Looks like a W!

Tyson gonna get kicked out maybe? Yikes.

No, good. Phew.

Getting sloppy with the ball.

Okafor with a nice finish, little hook in the lane. THAT would be nice to get him going.

Expand full comment

No one on this team can rebound other than Fardaws, and maybe Tyson.

Kennedy has 5 boards

Expand full comment

3 of which came after I typed that.

Expand full comment

you point is still well taken. SCU had a ton of offensive rebounds, with the shooter following his own shot for rebound.

The good thing is Cal does have size...just need to clean up the box outs.

They'll get it fixed. They'll be better as the season goes on too.

It's going to be glorious.

agreed. I think part of it is fatigue, so there is more standing around in the 2nd half. When we get a full team of starters, we can have more rotations and get Tyson some pine time.

If this team had been healthy from day 1, they're a Bubble contender.

The Kennedy injury really hurt, and the Askew/Celestine ones were devastating to their resume.

But this team could be really tough come Pac 12 Tourney time...

THIS Jalen Cone will do.

Expand full comment

Kennedy is really forcing it offensively.

Expand full comment

Bears are playing well!

Expand full comment

This team takes the next step if/when Newell starts hitting shots.

Expand full comment

Kennedy, Brown, and Cone have been phenomenal

Expand full comment

Fardaws needs to give the damn ball up.

Expand full comment

the other 4 need to start moving. They looked like bystanders.

Expand full comment

Maybe because they know he's not gonna give it up.

Expand full comment

coudl be. On his last shot (made), once he got the ball inside the arc, everyone just stopped and watched. Fortunately, it went down.

Coach needs to get him to start thinking about assists.

Expand full comment

Does Tyson ever drive left?

Expand full comment

Newell has talent but still can't really put it all together yet from a consistency standpoint. Once he does, he'll be a force.

Expand full comment

This team needs to box out.

Expand full comment

The D is already so much better with Kennedy.

Rodney Brown needs to box out...gave up an offensive rebound and a subsequent 3.

Bears hanging tough!

Santa Clara could be a fringe tournament team this year, probably 2nd best in the WCC. Winning this game would be a big step forward for the Bears!

Kennedy is an important piece. Very active. They’ve missed him.

Figure we’ll really know more about this team around January 1.

Good luck Bears!
