Maybe the best week for it too. Lots of Big Game donor events that Knowlton and Christ will need to show their faces at.

This loss is catastrophic and shifts the pressure to Knowlton.

He’ll likely do nothing.

Expand full comment

Not at all rooting for it, but nothing irks Old Blues like losing to a bad Furd team in the Big Game. If Knowlton’s not already feeling it, he would then.

hell not even only old blues this includes myself, I'm already incensed at everything as is and if Big Game goes awry good heavens Knowlton is going to be in a self made inferno

of course. the boss has already intimated taht other things are just as important as winning.

I just don't understand why they refuse to see that football and men's bball pays the bills for the other 29 sports. Either the two revenue sports start winning, or they budget for the other sports gets cut. Just that simple.

This is very good.

UCSD makes 1 FG the final 6 f-ing minutes and still win.

Bet you the Cal men's would lose to a group gathered from RSF.

There are some players at RSF. I used to get over some guys there too in my day.

No doubt, I played guard on an RSF intramural group and we had a 6'7"guy who could dunk whenever he wanted and actually was not bad. As I remarked somewhere else with the lack of cohesion and clutch play Cal would lose to a good high school team that had a coach who understood basketball.

They’d definitely be down 15 at the under 8 timeout.

If starting the season with two losses in three games to the big sky and the big west isn’t the final straw for fox, it will be the last bit of evidence I need to confirm, in my mind, that the cal administration is actively trying to sabotage our intercollegiate athletics program.

When it rains, it pours. Football and basketball find new and interesting ways to lose to teams (UC Davis, UCSD, Colorado) that they should beat handily. Sport gods, why do you hate us so?

It grows tiresome to hear broadcasters continue to portray a poor shooting, 7th year transfer in DeJuan Clayton as some kind of indispensable savior for this team…as if some switch is gonna be flipped. The team can not shoot.

Expand full comment

This is a tarmac level loss, folks.

And the commentators making 7th year journeyman DeJuan Clayton out to be some kind of savior is baffling.

We probably won't go winless but whoever loses to cal this year should be completely embarrassed.

After the UC Davis loss and then getting blown out at home v the worst team in the B12 (according to the media poll), the few fans that remained of the program seem to have finally turned…kinda like after the Colorado game with Musgrave. Fox is now the dead man walking…

I don’t recall a Head Coach at Cal that has thrown his/her players under the bus with the regularity that Mark Fox has, though…nothing is his or the coaching staff’s fault - it is always the kids. It grows tiresome.
