My question: once Mark starts building the program through recruiting and development, in whichever form that takes, what exactly is going to be his team’s identity? Defense? Offense?
Tough to really get a sense of that this season, other than to say his Utah Valley teams had a guy in Trey Woodbury running the show that THIS Cal team does not. Woodbury reminded me a little of that Marquette star Tyler Kolek. Love Tyson, but he’s not a point guard…we really have no floor general.
Madsen was a pretty tough defender but I haven't seen that yet. Whatever our offensive identity becomes, we have to fix the turnover issue for it to matter.
Maybe getting a better ball handler or true PG will help (if you can find a PG these days). We just feel like we're playing like less than the sum of our parts.
I’ve heard it’s knee, a few games back. Saw him on the bench in street clothes with a brace on v. ASU. No idea his timetable for a return, unfortunately, though when he did suffer the injury it was rumored to be potentially serious, FWIW. Best wishes for a quick recovery, as ND has plenty of upside.
