I actually think Gates would say no. His career arc is trending to bigger programs. DeCuire just continues to produce at Montana. Maybe 3rd time's the charm for both sides. Shantay Legans is .500 this year at Portland, but had a nice run at EWU for the last few years.
Shantay is so low on my list after bailing on a real solid Cal team his SR year to go sit a season & then play for Ray Lopes at Fresno St. Plus he makes Sam Cassel look like Jimmy Garoppolo.
Gates would not seem to fit Knowlton’s MO of hiring average retreads. The fact that we’re already talking about his 2nd MBB hire in 4 years is a problem.
The hilarious part about all of this is that Wyking may have been a terrible coach but Fox had his best year year using Wyking’s recruits 🤣🤣🤣 Wyking pulled multiple 4-stars despite terrible product. And Fox is STILL relying heavily on some of Wyking’s talent in year 3.

They’ve passed on DeCuire multiple times. Hiring him on the 3rd go round would be the most Cal thing ever.

Lars comes in, makes a decent play at the rim and gets fouled and makes the shots. Immediately subbed out for an ice cold Grant. SMH.

Meanwhile, Wazzu is schooling Stanford, up 16 with 8 minutes left. Stanford looks like a high school team, and yet they beat Cal 5 days ago.
