Najera had a solid swim in heat 2 and did get sub 1:40, which is a best time by more than a second. Likely will be just out of the consolation final though

Swim-off: TexasтАЩ Kyle Peck took a completely different strategy with this swim by prioritizing the back half as opposed to the front half like he did on the first swim. But he ran out of pool space and couldnтАЩt make up the ~1s gap he had at the halfway mark. Ultimately StanfordтАЩs Josh Zuchowski edged out Ohio StateтАЩs Cornelius Jahn by 0.01. The 200back is a really painful event. Having to kick upward (as opposed to downward for freestyle) is just way more tiring on the legs and I donтАЩt envy that these gentlemen raced it a second time within the hour, and for Zuchowski, having to it a 3rd time today will be brutal.
Lasco and Tomac went 1-2 in the heat, just beating IndianaтАЩs Owen McDonald. All 3 should make it to A finals, but itтАЩs always good to edge out swimmers from Texas and Indiana in the morning because it could make the difference between 8th and 9th.

Either way, Texas is just 2/0 in this event.
Gabriel Jett finishes 2nd in the final heat, while Keaton Jones was 5th. ThereтАЩs a 3 way tie for 16th (one Texas swimmer in that)
Finalists - Texas: 2/0 (maybe 2/1), Cal: 3/2, Indiana: 1/1
Najera sitting in either 7th or 8th going into the final heat, which only has 7 (a scratch). Should be a B finals appearance from him
