In theory we can still get transfers now that the window is closed and everyone needs to find a home. Would be nice to get a 4-star OT but we may be reliant on coaching our 3-star guys up to their potential.
I also hope Cindric can anchor the line and be a leader there. It seems like the guys have the measureables - height, weight etc. but just need more S&C and even more important - technique. Hopefully Bloesch is the man for the job. It helps that the QB will not be a statue but more like Kyler Murray.
IMO even if our OL guys are "only" 3* types they should have produced better results than we saw. I do want better rated guys for the first teamers, but I feel like I've been a little too down on the current complement. Let's get these guys actually coached up AND see if we can add a little cream to the top.
Bob - I agree there has been little or no complaining but there have been several posts calling for more depth there. I think the level of acceptance with that situation may be related to the fact that at least Wilcox and Co. got ONE hopeful transfer. If we get the luxury of filling a couple more holes like OL then maybe we can feel brash enough to go back to complaining about depth (and developing the backups!) at various positions...
I know everyone is clamoring for OL transfers, and we very well may see some between now and fall, but I’m finding myself being cautiously optimistic (sunshine pumps engage!) about our prospects.
When JW first took over, he took Dykes defensive backs that were getting blasted for 40, 50 pts and turned them into a respectable unit that sent several players to the NFL.
If we can get even half the turnaround we saw back then from Bloesch, Ott & Co. will thrive.
I am optimistic that schematic changes, better coaching by Bloesch (>>>>Angus), coupled with Spav’s more dynamic and innovative offensive mind, will pay dividends.
I’d like to see more big eaters on board, though, because we always seem to struggle with injuries. A deeper OL roster would really help this!
What about Jackson Brown? I haven't seen anything about him being in the portal.
Welcome back, Matthew!
This is good news.

In my humble, optimistic naive Cal fan opinion…
