Cal Schedule for Official Day 1 of the 2024 Paris Olympics (July 27th, 2024)
As many as 16 Calympians may be active on Day 1 in Swimming, Rowing, Badminton, Water Polo, and Field Hockey
With that memorable Paris Opening Ceremony behind us, the 2024 Summer Games will really get underway on Saturday.
The expected schedule for the Calympians is below although there may be some changes (or swimmers being used only in the heat/final) to the relay lineups.
Abbey Weitzeil, one of the Team USA swimming captains, highlights the day's active Cal athletes.

The 4x100m Free Relay should have Cal Bears impacting both the men (Jack Alexy) and the women (Abbey Weitzeil) on Team USA. Also pay attention for other Calympians on women’s relay for Hong Kong and possibly France (it is not super clear if Mary Ambre-Moluh is on that relay or not, or maybe just the morning heat).
Lucas Henveaux and Aaron Shackell are both in Men’s 400m Free.
All five Cal Badminton athletes are also active.
On the water, women’s rowing will see American Kara Kohler (single sculls) and Norwegian Inger Kavlie (double sculls) in early action.
Finally, Cal Bears in team group play action will include Kitty Lynn Joustra with the Dutch Women’s Water Polo and Megan Rodgers Valzonis with the USA Women’s Field Hockey.
